Since the time when the triton two was launched, goldenear has had some incremental improvements in design. Notably the larger midrange found in the triton one and supercenter series, as well as the bass loading material used in both the triton one and seven.

When can we expect to see these improvements in the triton two?
Triton Two front L/R
SuperSat 50c center
Triton Seven surround L/R
SuperSat 50 surround rear L/R
AVR Arcam AVR-21
Amp Marantz mm7025
Velodyne optimum 10” sealed, back left corner
SuperSub X front-right corner

Each speaker is engineered as a complete design. The Two, for instance, was designed with the size drivers that they utilize, just as it was designed with 2 passive radiators, rather than 4, and 2 active subwoofer drivers, rather than 3. The midrange driver in the One is not better from a pure engineering standpoint, but it is larger and has greater dynamic range. It also requires a larger internal cabinet, which allows it to crossover lower, and a wider baffle etc. A similar design is used in the Seven, because there is no subwoofer in the Seven and the 2 active bass/midrange drivers are responsible for generating all the bass energy (along with their coupled passive radiators). If the Two included all these things it would be larger and more expensive and, well, it would be a One.

Thanks for the reply Sandy. I knew the larger midrange would fit - but didn't consider that the interior enclosure or full cabinet would be affected so much. I assumed that adjusting the midrange and/or bass loading would effectively mean re-voicing the speaker - but didn't realize it was out of scope for the two.

Anyhow, I'm very pleased with my purchases thus far (satellites & sevens) and hope to see Goldenear at the Rocky Mountain audio fest this October.
