I have been thinking of adding an outboard subwoofers to my Triton 3's. I have a medium sized room and they do sound good and are not lacking bass. Would their be enough of an improvement to justify the cost?

Heck YEAH!!!!! I have Triton 2s and play a ForceField 5 with em. You can NEVER, EVER have too much bass.
Well, OK, that was a broad statement, I never had too much bass in my life.
Audition first if you can, but I would go for it!!!!

I went to York College, York, Neb. for 2 years then Kearney State, and now live in Thailand. I am sorta, almost a displaced Husker too.

Husker: Do you get the impression that Bro Wayne likes bass? I think if money was not an issue he'd probably own 10 FF 5's...he likes his rock-n-roll.

I do believe dual stand alone subs would be of benefit and compliment the Triton 3's for both music & HT. Blending both together is the hard part. I don't care for stand alone subs for music (smooth jazz/traditional jazz doesn't require much bass) my Triton 2's give me more than enough bass. HT is another story...the more bass the better.

Two FF 3's or FF 4's may be "just what the doctor ordered."

Wayne, probably needs all that bass for the 192/24 audio version of the Nebraska Band playing "There is No Place Like Nebraska". Wrong place to post this but I am thinking one SVS PC12 Plus just due to the room configuration and WAF. The only place acceptable to put it is in the left corner where the orange barrel is. Adding an outboard sub to Triton Threes can be a very worthwhile addition and will result in increased overall system playing ceiling and dynamics (but that's likely the ONLY improvements). Be aware there are many configuration and placement implications. Is this a stereo, or Home Theater? If Home Theater, depending on center speaker and sub placement, you may be able to use the additional sub only for the LFE-channel.

Sorry, just saw photo. In that configuration the corner placed sub would be LFE-only. Movie playing ceiling and dynamics would improve, no difference for music unless played in something other than stereo.
