Anxiously awaiting my pre-ordered pair of Triton ones.

Researching amps and have a budget of about $1300. Any thoughts or experience on Peachtree nova125 or Jolida, or other value tube amps with Triton series?

I have heard the Triton twos in my house with an Emotiva XPA2 and sounded great, but maybe just a tad bright, looking for a bit more warmth if possible. Also- watts needs to play the Triton ones at a loud volume? (not stupid loud, but rock levels on occasion)

Thanks in advance for anyone's imput.
Good times, good wine, and great music !!

A little over your budget but, have you considered a pair of the Emotive XPA-1 gen 2's? 60 watts of sweet class A then transitions into 600 watts of AB.

I already have an XPA3 and could use that amp, the XPA2 is too much power for those speakers, I feel.
Also, don't know if that is really true class A power? Have yet to see a positive review on that.

Thanks for the input-

I think MOBrien makes a great suggestion with the XPA-I Gen 2, they would be phenomenal mono blocks with hopefully all the power you would ever need plus 60 watts of class A...I'd like these myself. You might also consider the XPR-2 in their reference line...I've heard nothing but praise on this gem.

My cousin in Tennessee has a Peachtree unit, says he really likes it. The Nova 125 looks/sounds like a great integrated amp plus you get the taste of tubes. Another suggestion... keep the XPA-3 and mate it with a good quality tube preamp. In regards to the XPA-2 having to much power...nonsense. If money weren't an issue the XPR-I mono blocks would send you to seventh heaven...no such thing as "to much power", just stupid people that get "to volume happy"....there is a limit.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Hi gang -

First, Winefix, if the Triton Twos sounded "a tad bright", try some other stuff (amps, maybe, or preamp or DAC... I don't know your system). This is a very unusual comment about the Tritons and is probably revealing something else that's not quite right in your system.

Next, as others have suggested here, lots of power is not needed, but good sounding power will be rewarded with exceptional fidelity. Anything over 50 watts will work (even less, but let's not go there). Best sounding amps I've ever heard are all below 200w/channel, with few exceptions. The Peachtree 125 is excellent - we have used it and it represents some of the best stereo fidelity playback/DAC performance for the money. Great choice. Haven't heard the Jolida but have heard good things about it. Same for many of the modest power/price tube amps that are popular today. Regarding Class A - we use the Pass Labs Class A amps at every trade show to drive the Triton Towers in Sandy's "big rig" system demo. You know, the ones that win all those Best in Show awards... I think there's a bit of evidence to support it, check out some of the reviews on the best Class A stuff. Maybe not worth the price (diminishing returns and all that), but that's another story too. :)

Thanks so much !!

The slight brightness may have been due to the Emotiva amp and dac, I will go with the Peachtree nova125, which by many accounts leans on the warm side. Really beneficial to hear that you have used that amp with the Triton series before and the combo was excellent.

If that is not enough power, I could use the Peachtree as a tube / preamp and run the Emotiva Xpa3, gives me some flexibility going forward.

Thanks again

TJ
