I have recently puchased two Triton 3's, a SuperSat 50, along with a Denon X3000 receiver. I have read the suggestion from GoldenEar about not using the LFE-in on the Triton's.

I also have read Denon's suggestion that:
Tower Speakers w/built in sub: When using this type of speaker (eg. Def Tech) and no external sub, connect the LFE cable from the AVR sub preout to a "Y" splitter and then to each sub. After running Audyssey Setup, you will still want to set the front mains to SMALL (regardless of what the mfr's speaker manual recommends) as there are 8x (MultEQ XT) and 64x (MultEQ) more Audyssey sub filters than speaker filters. This configuration will also then allow you to adjust the sub channel volume to suit your preference. Note with XT32, there are an equivalent number of speaker and sub control points, so without a dedicated sub in the setup, you can go either way with either a LARGE or SMALL setting.

Thoughts?

The best idea would be to experiment and see what you think sounds best.

I can tell you that, IMO, Denon is wrong. That is probably biased by the fact that 99% of the complaints we receive about sonic issues relates directly back to the use of Audyssey. And 99% of the time on those complaints, turning Audyssey off is the solution.

Here's what I would suggest, first set the system up without Audyssey using the suggestions in the Triton manual (speaker wire only connection, set speaker type to LARGE/Full-Range/No Crossover, and NO subwoofer) and listen/tweak/listen for a while. Now that you have a reference, go ahead and play with adding LFE cables and different bass management settings, and Audyssey (just make sure you know how to disable it if you don't like the changes). Then post back on the forum and let us know your thoughts ... maybe your system will be the 1%.

Hi,

Good suggestion by the moderator, I hope you try both situations and post back your findings. Looking forward to see what your conclusions are.

Also, if the speakers are new, maybe you should wait till they have gone thru the suggested break-in period before doing your comparison.
