Boys and girls, I sit about 8 ft. away from my headphone amp when I want to listen to music. And if I want to listen with cans I need an extension cable, my cans only have a 4 ft. cable. So I bought an ext. cable from Amazon, an Audioquest "Golden Gate" 2m ext. cable.
It looked kinda decent, see the pic. It cost $80 plus shipping so not exactly cheap.
And not too expensive, but certainly not the best sounding at all.
Well, it did not last long until it started corroding, making a noisy, then intermittent connection, and finally only one channel could connect. Rubbish. Even the outside metal bit is half black.
Well, I don't use them often but when I want to listen rather loudly and not bother my wife, I want the cans. So I searched and found deoxIT on the Amazon. A LITTLE tube of it (and I mean little, I already used 1/8 of it in one application) costs over $8 plus shipping. Not cheap either, it comes in lots of forms, I just got a tube.
Put it in there yesterday and waited, today when I plugged in it worked great!!!!!
So this stuff does work after all. Worth it? Oh yeah!!!
Hope this helps somebody,
God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne. Us old guys always used Cramolin (one bottle lasts several lifetimes) but I have heard from many that the Deoxit is the hot ticket now. Thanks for the mention - in my experience the first time cleaning of all your system's contacts will make an instant and obvious improvement in the sound of your system. Do it once a year to keep it maintained.

Hey Wayne:
Thanks for bringing Deoxit to our attention. I've known about this product for years, but have never tried it. Now my question is, which Deoxit product do I need....regular Deoxit or Deoxit Gold? My primary focus will be my Decware Tube amp.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Bro Anthem,
From what I have read, I needed the D series because I had corrosion so bad it literally would not make a contact. IF you are just looking to clean up and protect your contacts, keep them optimal, the the Gold is for you. I think.
Mine is like good as new now. Good stuff.
God Bless,
Wayne

Wayne and Moderator Dude,

Would there be any benefit to using the D series to clean the contacts followed by the Gold to treat them? From what I've read, they seem to have a slightly different purpose. I'd like to give this a try.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Bro T. that would probably be the best if not slightly a bit of overkill. Depends on how tarnished/corroded your connections are. Likely the Gold is enough, but you definitely need the D cleaner if things are as black and not working like mine were.
Try it and tell us!
God Bless,
Wayne
