Hi All,

If you were going to place 3 GoldenEar Speakers
behind an acoustically transparent projector screen
for a dedicated Home Theater, what would they be?

Thanks for any advice.

Sonix,

Welcome to the forum! I'm not intending to be cheeky here, but I would recommend the best model you can afford. Do you have room for towers? Can you tell us a little more about your setup? Do they have to be wall mounted? Is ceiling mounting an option? The great news is that GET has plenty of options and you should be able to find a solution regardless of your limitations.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hi T Cobe,

I am thrilled with your quick reply and warm welcome. Thank you!

I am planning a HT and was considering GET Triton 1s and a center speaker
with the idea of placing them out on the floor so they can properly breathe.

Then I saw the attached picture of an AT projector screen with the speakers
concealed behind it. (see attached photo).

Now I am leaning more towards prioritizing the room for the feel of a real HT
Cinema by giving the screen the emphasis in the room and moving the speakers
behind it.

I was not to sure if the 1s would be the best choice behind the screen since they
may only sound great when they are placed out in the room.

So I am wondering what in the GET entire lineup which would work best in this
fashion, whether they are floor, wall, or ceiling?

My setup will be a dedicated room that is 16 x 21ft with a 9ft ceiling.
Planning to start with 5.1 and hopefully add more later. Trying to work
with a total gear budget of $30k.

Best Regards,
Ken

Just a side note nevertheless related comment, I do not believe (nor does today's science from all I have read) there is any such thing as a completely (which I understand you did not indicate) acoustically transparent screen. Near completely yes. Point here is I would be concerned over whatever loss will occur. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

I know your budget allows for basically any of the golden ear speakers you wish to have, but you might want to do some research in the in ceiling Atomos setup that was at the CEDIA 2015 show that really wowed everyone that listened to it. That would get you all speakers NOT behind anything, and if well designed...totally invisible to the viewers. I think I remember that there were two Tritan 1s at the show to provide the illusion that there were front speakers in the setup...to everyone surprise they were not even hooked up.

Here is one article that spells it all out.....

No matter what you go with ....good luck!

Hi GDHAL,

Thanks for chiming in. You are exactly correct!

There will always be a price to pay using AT Screens,
and I always discarded the concept until I saw this from
Seymour AV (see attached).

Since I am already 62 years old, my hearing is only getting
worse. I am pretty sure I cannot hear much of a 1.5 db difference,
and may not be any worse off not knowing what I can't hear, lol.

Still have a lot to consider though.

Best Regards,
Ken
