Alright, we literally have hundreds of people here a day in the forum. Last night we were over 600 at one point! With all of the traffic here, somebody has to have seen the new Star Wars movie! Please, please, please provide us some feedback!

It pains me to not be running out to my reasonably local IMAX today to be watching this film but I have a lot to do around the house, didn't buy my tickets ahead of time, and most importantly don't want to deal with the crowds. Someone please those of us who can't get out and see the film with at least your general impressions. I don't want to know everything that happens, but I'd like to know what is yet to come. Is it more like the original 3 movies, episodes 4-6, or like episodes 1-3?

Thanks in advance for your posts and helping others live vicariously through you until we can get to the theater!

Cheers,

T Cobe

A guy on the forum I run has a son who's a movie critic in Boston. He saw it early last week before it opened to the public. He really liked it and basically said its critic proof. The only negative I've heard is that its too serial. Well.... its the 7th movie in a series so yeah, OK. I'm seeing it tomorrow with one of my daughters. I have 3 but only one of them is into Star Wars.

Imahawki,

Enjoy the movie and if time permits, please share your impressions. I've read some of the reviews and they are a bit mixed. The story sounds pretty similar to Episode IV, but like you said, it's the 7th movie... Some of the same critics stated they didn't like the Star Trek reboots by Abrams and I enjoyed them, so I take critics opinions very lightly.

I think there is a sense of nostalgia and romanticism about the original Star Trek and Star Wars that will always be a barrier for some to accept a newer version as equal or better. That said, I agree that the first three Star Wars movies, episodes 4-6, were better than episodes 1-3, but the new Star Trek movies are another story. I prefer them over the original series, but that's just my opinion.

Enjoy the movie. Happy holidays to you and yours!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Well, I loved the movie. I don't want to spoil it, but I'll say a few things that are all to be taken as My Opinion obviously.

This film to me is on par with the best of the original trilogy. In fact, it HIGHLIGHTS how garbage the prequels are. Poor George really needed help writing the dialog and someone else needed to direct them. He is a master of writing the story but he should not have written and directed those movies.

I actually can't wait to see it again. Its not perfect but some of its flaws are due to the nature if it now being the 7th film in a series and I can forgive that. 9/10 for me.

Thanks, Imahawki! I'm hoping to get to the theater this week. I'm expecting to enjoy the movie at face value and of course look forward to being able to watch it at home with real surround sound! ;)

Cheers,

I just talked to my 12 year old grandson, who saw the movie this afternoon. He did not like it. His reasons: No Jedi, no Luke Skywalker (except at the very end) and, to quote him, "Too little Lucas and too much Disney".

So there!

Best,

Art
