Hi Wayne, I'm using the Emo DAC in my office connected to my iMac (simple 2 channel system w XPA1Ls and T7s). I have the XMC-1 in the Living Room with the other, more formidable iron :-).

BTW, I've got a little semi-portable rig I've been playing with: Emo Mini-X-A-100 (50 wpc, sweet little amp), driving Martin Logan bookshelf speakers (Motion 4). I also will be using the DAC with that rig too on occasion. I either plug in the emo amp into the wall, or for portability, power it off of a Lithium Ion battery pack made by Paul C. Buff (Vagabond Mini) made to power Studio Flashes (photography) on location. I have two of the vagabonds - they are really great. I'm able to house the whole rig in an old Bose bag that has acoustically transparent front panels. This is about the highest end 'boom box' one could imagine. Had it out on the beach for July 3 firework cookout. Sounds great - but here's my question:

The Martin Logans, for their size, sound really pretty good. They also use High Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeters. But, I've been toying with the idea of replacing them with Aon 2's or maybe Aon 3's for better bass. I haven't auditioned either yet. I was wondering about the size of the 2's and 3's as they look on paper to be maybe a little to big for a semi-portable system. The 2's look to be just a little too deep to fit in the Bose bag I have and still get the amp in there too. But, that's not necessarily a deal breaker. And then there's the 2's vs 3's question. Any comments?

Hey Brad, AWESOME!!!!!
You do like your music and your gear man, well done!!!!!
The BEST boom box in the West!!!!!! If you had either of the Aons you would certainly be there!
But they are a little big for that use, I THINK!
I really like the Aon 2s and could almost LOVE the Aon 3s. They are just not quite full range enough for me, really they are but remember, take into acct. that I am a self confessed Bass head!!!!!
I would say go for it, you might have to find a little different way to carry them around, or might get big muscles like Bro Anthem.
I LIKE the way you think man!!!!!
Happy listening,
God Bless, Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Thanks again. I think I'll create a new thread on the 'portability' of the AON2s just to see what the community thinks. Should be fun.

Anthem,

Thanks for the Art Blakely. I've been wanting to check that one out. It's on my list. In terms of workout music, our frame of mind during workouts is very different... This is where my head is at...

Your tunes would be my cool down but I need a little primal energy to push me through during a workout.

Cheers,

T Cobe
