Top-end sound effects depend upon the cap. The Triton One Front Left definitely sounds more musical under the King University Chorale Cap. The Triton One Front Right ranks Number 1 among its peers under the University of Alabama Cap. The Triton Seven Rear Surround Right sounds more stately and mature under the "1941 Model" cap, while the Triton Seven Rear Surround Left delivers sounds that are straight down the middle under the Shoal Creek Golf Club Payne Stewart Cap.

The overall blend is superb and comforting.

Best,

Art

Art, you are a hoot!

I can see both sides of this discussion. Adding a variety of colors for ordering GET products will increase costs and I think we can all agree that would be bad. Having the option to separately purchased modifications may be a good idea but GET runs the risk of people damaging their speakers during installation. There are always consequences.

Besides Ferrari Red top caps and cloth covering, I'd love to have an optional base to screw onto the T1 that are metal and equipped with outrigger, spiked feet. I see this as an additional revenue stream after the initial point of sale, as the automotive industry has. As stated earlier, I understand that there are always consequences and I'm sure GET has explored these options and made a thoughtful decision.

Cheers,

T Cobe

I know there are lots of pricey speakers with wood grain, polished aluminum, etc. And while I wouldn't mind seeing some of them as furniture, I am not about to replace the GORGEOUS sound I get from the GEt's with any of them (there I go using the term gorgeous again). Actually, I like the way the GEt's just sit there, looking so potent? ready? powerful?.

I like Art's approach, give them some character up top with whatever hats/decoration make them personal to you. I guess if a whole range of color options were available for caps and bases, I'd still go for the black, though I may add a football hat or two. Thanks, Art!

My "Hat Treatments" aside, if I were a Golden Ear executive, I would be reluctant to encourage any unnecessary handling of the big Triton units. I know how concerned I was when my Triton Ones arrived by motor freight. We used a dolly to move the cartons in and I was very careful as I unpacked each speaker and moved them into place. Since that day, I have moved them around a bit by carefully sliding them around, but they are essentially in the same place in my room as when they first arrived.

So, I am in agreement with the folks at GE - whatever their reasons might be.

Happy listening,

Art

OK- I give up. No one seems to like my suggestions. Just thought I'd add a bit of color to the proceedings. On second thought, there is a certain elegance and refinement to black and it does disappear when I turn out the lights for late night listening.

What can I complain about next? Perhaps those blue lights in rear of the speaker that light up the back wall and hinder any chance of a solid nap while I try drift off listening to a Delius concerto?

Think of those blue lights as providing a pleasant glow in the room to compliment the Delius concerto - or any Delius composition you choose for napping. At my age (75) I can fall asleep listening to Wagner or Stravinsky, so just be patient.

As for Triton Toppers -- try a ball cap. Or, how about a ski cap?

Best,

Art
