Fun stuff, but make sure not to cover the top front of the speaker (the area in front of the gloss top cap).

Mr. Moderator,

Thanks for the top-tip! Alas, I was covering the small area in front of the gloss top on both my Ones and my Sevens. I have adjusted the ball caps accordingly to uncover those top frontal areas.

What was I affecting when I had the top front of the speakers covered?

Thanks,

Art

Tweeter dispersion for sure and possibly even midrange dispersion.

That opening on the top is part of the "secret sauce" that helps create the large soundstage, great imaging and "airy" quality to the presentation from the powered Triton models. That said, I imagine some of the sound got past the ball caps anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I certainly don't want to spoil the GE Secret Sauce -- not even partially. Now, I can report that the ball caps are still merrily decorating my Triton speakers and the Secret Sauce is free to flow where it will.

A little closer to Nirvana am I.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if some of the sound is reflecting off the inside of the metal grill that is under the sock and is being shot up out the top...
