I’m looking to replace my on wall Bose Lifestyle 35 system with GE components. My viewing area is 9.5 feet from the TV/speakers and the room is 11’ x 25’. Attached
Picture shows where the on wall speakers will go. I am planning on getting a Supersub X for LFE and Supersat 3’s for rears. My question is whether I should get separate Supersat 60’s for LCR around the TV or SC 3D Array XL below the TV? In a perfect world I would have a SC Reference on top of the cabinet, but wife denied it. I know that it should go inside the cabinet. Any thoughts on this setup is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi rbull34, Either the SuperCinema 3D Array XL or three SuperSat 60s would be a nice step up from your current system. You'll hear a greater sense of fullness, inner detail and realism with either GoldenEar setup you're considering. Using a SuperSub X and SuperSat 3s as your surrounds would complement either front soundstage as well. Given a choice, however, I'd lean toward using three separate SuperSat 60s. Even though the soundstage produced by the SuperCinema 3D Array XL is surprisingly large, using three separate SuperSat 60s would provide a more detail, richness and spaciousness. Happy Listening!

Thank you moderator for your comments. I measured inside the cabinet and I can actually fit a SuperCenter Reference in it with a 1.75 inch clearance (the wife will not let me put it on top of the cabinet). Would you advise doing this because of the upgrade in sound quality versus the SS60C? Or would that not work because a) it would not sound right acoustically or b) the center is much lower the left and right speakers? Of course I would prefer the SCR but if will sound muffled it will not be worth it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for the follow-up. Using a SuperSat 60C as your center speaker (placed close to your television) would work quite well, however, given a choice, I'd lean toward using a SuperCenter Reference center speaker placed into your cabinet. Even though it would be placed a bit lower than what's ideal, its improvement in sound quality would more than offset its location.

Thank you for the reply...I am leaning toward putting a pair of BRX’s on the side of the cabinet instead of wall mounting SS60’s. Can you please confirm this should be fine and if the attached pics of the speaker stands should suffice? Thanks!

Using the BRX's on 30" stands (like the ones you're considering) would work quite well. Actually, using a set of BRXs as your main left and right speakers along with a SuperCenter Reference as your front soundstage would truly be considered a top-of-the-line setup. I would have no hesitations with using this setup.
