I recently purchased a pair of the Triton 2+'s and a SuperCenter Reference for my basement, which isn't overly large. I am looking to add rear surrounds to my system, which are going to be placed on the back wall where my main listening position on the couch is. My questions is whether I should purchase Supersat speakers (3's?) for the surround or the new BRX bookshelves? I'm interested to see what people's opinions are on the importance of rear surround speaker performance. I have an Anthem MRX520 with this system. Thanks for your input!

Great choice in front and center speakers!!!

First, yes, surround speakers can add a lot to the listening experience.

Second, the quality and bass depth from the surround positions, whether from the speakers or also with a sub placed there, adds the sense of "being there".

I haven't heard the BRX's, but from all accounts they are a step up from the Aon's, which are deeper, richer sounding than the SuperSats. IF you had a sub back there, the SuperSats would be a good option. Without a sub, I would lean towards the BRX's, which would give a fuller, deeper, surround sound.

Just my opinion.

The BRX will sound fantastic as a surround speaker, but it will need to be on a good stand (we recommend 30" height) or a bookshelf. It does not have any way to attach a bracket without damaging the finish on the back.

You might consider SuperSat 50 or 60 for surrounds, or possibly Aon 2 or 3 if the BRX won't work for your needs. You can mount a bracket to the back of the Aons. Just make sure the bracket supports the weight of the speaker you select.

Thanks to everyone's replies. I don't think the BRX's are going to work with my situation. Since my basement's ceiling is only approx. 8-9 feet high and my MLP is only 7 feet from the LCR's, would the SS50's or 3's be more appropriate? There is quite a bit of difference in height between the two. Also, would wall mounting or using Superstands be better? Appreciated the help!
