Hi All,

Ive been recommended to use 4 x GoldenEar HTR7000 in ceiling speakers in my room, in conjunction with wall mounted L/C/R.

I have the ability to mount a thin speaker on the sides and underneath the TV for the front but because of the room shape/layout I have no ability to have a speaker at ear level behind or to the sides of me.

I do currently have 2 x REL subs I can use.

The AVR is a Yamaha RX-3070 – I aim to use Delay/Gain to fix any issues with the ceiling height.

Would installing 4 x HTR7000s provide me an Atmos setup and if so, where would I place them on my floor plan? My room is approx 5.5M wide along the TV side and about 6M long. Take note of the sloping ceiling I have

Thanks!

I do have about 8-10 inches of space above my bifolds that I could mount a side speaker/rear speaker and I have a corner wall I could get something too but this would be about 2.5 to 2.6M above the listening position – I could easily point them to the listener

See photos (area circled in red)

I could then have:

Front – left, right, centre

Surround – left/right – angled towards listening, 2.5M off the ground
Height speakers – I could have 2 infront and 2 behind the listening position in ceiling

This would be a 5.2.4 setup

Hi dastrix, Sloped ceilings are an issue, really can't provide insight without being in the room. Mounting some on-wall SuperSats for the surrounds and pointing them down to aim at ear level, although not ideal, should work fine.

Unforunately I dont really have wall access to mount any speakers. I only have the front TV wall and the ceiling.

Would the AVR not adjust with room eq for the ceiling being sloped?

Regards

There is no adjustment for speaker vertical placement, just speaker distance. The speakers must be in the correct physical location for proper Atmos playback. The sloped ceiling is another issue altogether and relates to determining correct model and placement for height channels, nothing about room eq for that either.

Fair enough. We are talking about 200mm of height difference over 2 Meters, its not a real lot.

Ive got the HTR7k in front at the moment and the Invisa in the rear, it sounds fine to me thus far with no calibration at all
