Hi again,

Since I can only afford 2 Triton Ones for my front stage,
would it be a bad idea to use a Triton 2+ as my center
speaker?

Looking for movie duty.

Thanks.

Hi, Sonix

I may be missing something in your set-up options, but unless you can run a T2+ behind a sonically transparent screen, my recommendation would be a SCXXL. Those rascals, with 2 extra drivers to boost 500HZ and down, plus the new crossover technology, just do an amazing job as centers... crystal clear dialog, plus lots of bass. I have my SCXXL at 60 or 80 HZ, and am always amazed at how deep it can play. And it doves in SO nicely with T1's. The SCXXL just plain brings dialog home for movies, and adds bass in spades.

The T2+, with powered sub, would add even more bass, and similar voice clarity IF you have a sonically transparent screen. All I can add is that the SCXXL and my T1's just plain MAKE the front sound stage for HT or multi channel music. Awesome speaker, the SCXXL. Can you audition the options in your home set-up? If so, do it!

Happy listening!

WOW Rick, thanks so much for such an enthusiastic
recommendation for the SCXXL. I will definitely take
a serious look at it.

Even though I will be going with the Seymour AT screen,
dialog clarity is my major concern, possible requiring
a 2db boost to penetrate what is not acoustically transparent.

I'll need to look for a stand for the SCXXL to give it height
parity with the Triton Ones across the stage.

I might even save enough to add a sub (2 would be nice).

Since I am in the Philippines, I can't audition unless I take
a plane trip to Manila which is not agreeable with the wife.

So that's why I am relying on you seasoned veterans here
on the GEt forum for the best advice on the internet!

Cheers!

Hey, Sonix

You can also "tilt/aim" the SCXXL to point at your PLP with the adjustable feet on the speaker, and/or add some additional tilt. It can be placed above or below the screen and adjusted accordingly. Good luck on your sonic journey!

Hey Sonix,
I am sure you will have a superb home theater whichever way you go, if you continue to go with GEt speakers.
I only have the SC X as center channel speaker, and it is great, but I do not sit too far from it, only around 8 feet.
You can use a T 2 as well.
You are welcome to come to Thailand and listen, we are not that far from you.
God Bless,
Wayne

The Center speaker does the most work in "movie duty", so a pair of Triton Two+ for the Left/Right and a Triton One for the Center would actually be the better solution. If using three Triton Ones (the best solution if affordable), then don't feed the center the LFE signal to help it keep up with the L/R speakers.
