Imahawki,

I think the PVA 7 would be great with the AVM 60. You're absolutely spot on about power. Honestly, a good 4 ohm stable 100 to 150 watt amp should be plenty. I'm guessing the sound on the AVM is going to be plenty rewarding for music as well. If you found that you wanted more power, you can add additional amps later.

Cheers,

Not that I was ready to make a purchase right this second but after doing more research I may go the route of getting a 2ch amp or monoblocks and a 5 channel amp which will definitely require upping the budget a bit.

After reading a lot of reviews I'm actually very interested in a few of the Class D options. I haven't seen much on this forum about Class D amps. I know some people still have negative bias against Class D but there are a lot of good reviews from trusted sources for some of these amps. I'll keep you guys in the loop and report back.

Imahawki,

I couldn't be happier with my choice to do monoblocks and a 5-channel amp. I doubt you would either. Regarding class D amps, I think it's audiofoolery to dismiss this technology. There are some darn fine class D amps out there that get great reviews. You can find good and bad examples of any type of amplifier. Audition as many as you can and pick the amps that sound best to you.

Cheers,

I believe the PVA series is gone, but they are showing the new MCA amps to match the new AVM60 and MRX 's. You are correct though, one of the hallmarks of the Anthem amps has been that they are very quiet (in some cases -10dB, or more, quieter than other popular amps). I also heard from a dealer today they had installed a 5.1.4 GoldenEar system with the new AVM60, his installers thought it was the best they had ever heard.

Moderator,

Were they referring to the AVM 60 or the entire setup? Some of the early reviews (possibly from trolls) have not been great. My dealer stated the AVM 60 was more detailed than the 7702 MKII. This is a much more difficult decision than speakers... :)

Cheers,

The whole setup, but they'd heard all the other stuff before... there go-to of late has been the Marantz 8802, so I guess that's their reference in that comment.
