Hey Anthem,
I run my center SC X on the Vincent SP=T100 mono block. Pictured below.
That model is now replaced by the similar SP-T700.
www.vincent-tac.de/en/product-lines/tubeline/sp-t700/
The first 10 watts are pure Class A.
The ONLY disappointment I have with it is that it is not balanced like my bigger mono blocks for Left
and Right are: the SP-=T800 which were the Absolute Sound Product of the year 2009
www.upscaleaudio.com/vincent-sp-t800-hyb...ock-amplifiers-pair/
www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/tas-18...monoblock-amplifier/
These babies the first 20 watts are Class A.
It is never cold in my home theater.
If anyone now thinks I am rich, I got an extremely good deal on these, and now I am not rich. I joke, I am very rich
just not at the bank, but in my life!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Wayne,

Very nice! I had my center channel on an XPA-1L for a bit while I was waiting to order a second one to run them on my T1s. My SCXL sounded entirely different on the monoblock amp. Hybrid amps with tubes and class A mode!? No wonder you love multichannel music so much. You are rich with blessings indeed!

Anthem, you may want to give that a try if you haven't already. I may eventually get another monoblock for my center channel but now that Emotiva is switching over their product lines, it won't be an exact match. I'm waiting to see what their new differential amps look like.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Imahawki,

Any progress on the amps or AVR/Pre/Pro?

Cheers,

I'm working through a friend who works in the industry who might be able to get me a small discount. I'm letting him work some connections and I'm not in a huge hurry. I want to do the following over some period of time:

1) 2 mono amps
2) 5ch amp
3) AV Pre/Pro
4) Possible 2ch pre-amp with HT bypass
5) Room treatments

That's decent amount of cheddar... I'll need to spread it out any way.

I ended up reassessing my needs, desires, and budget and decided to recombine #1 and #2. Today I found a used but mint condition 7 channel Sunfire Theater Grand Amplifier. Its the TGA-7401 model. If you don't know the Sunfire amps use a switching power supply like a class D amp but they have a classic class A/B output. Bob Carver pioneered what they call a Tracking Downconverter which maintains a power supply voltage that is just a bit higher than the output voltage for whatever wattage is being produced. Unlike class A and Class A/B which have a constant voltage and whatever voltage isn't used by the output transistors has to be dissipated as heat. As such, Carver/Sunfire amps behave more like a class D amp when it comes to the power supply.

There are certainly some detractors of this design philosophy but I found a few used amp options on Audiogon and ran them by someone who's opinion I trust highly both as an audiophile and as an career electrical engineer and he gave the thumbs up to the Sunfire amp.

I'll certainly post impressions once it arrives.

Imahawki,

Sunfire makes great gear, that should be an awesome addition to your setup! That is a lot of power! I definitely look forward to hearing your impressions. Your T1s, and the rest of you GET speakers, should be breathing fire once you get that amp hooked up.

Are you still planning to add a processor? I'm still waiting to hear the AVM 60 in surround mode. My local dealer has their projector out for repair so their demo room is out of order. In the meantime, I've been waiting for a review or two online but there hasn't been any updates. I really wish more companies were like GET and had professional reviews timed with product release dates.

Cheers,

T Cobe
