Hi all,

I'm putting together a new home theater and need some help deciding on the surrounds. This is a dedicated setup in and open floor plan basement. I currently have the following:

GE Triton 7s (yet to buy, but will soon)
GE SuperCenter XL
2 SVS SB2000 Subs
Marantz 5009 or 7009 receiver

The issue with the room is that it is already wired for surrounds and rears in the ceiling (it's a finished basement). The surrounds are external speakers that hang and angle down, and are about 12 feet away from seating. The rears are in-ceiling mounted and about 6 feet behind the seating.

Should I cut holes where the surrounds are and install Invisa 525s, Invisa 650s, or Invisa 7000s? Or should I keep the bracket and hang down some SuperSat 3s?

For the rear, should I do Invisa 525s, Invisa 650s, or Invisa 7000s?

Budget is of course a factor, so if the 7000s aren't a $500 per pair improvement, then I don't want to use them. Looking for the best side/rear surround solution for my room.

Greatly appreciate any help and advice.

Thanks,
Wes

Wes,

My advice, save up for the T5s for the front and the Aon 2s for surrounds. If you need to save for a bit, it's worth it. I'd recommend a first hand audition to see for yourself.

Cheers,

If your budget has no flexibility, SSAT 3s.

How do you expect me to mount Aons in the ceiling?

Thank you, and if I do have budget flexibility what do you recommend?

Do you feel the SSAT 3s would be better than in ceiling Invisas?

I believe the SSATs are $250 each and the 7000 are $500 each. Both would be good but the Invisa speakers probably sound better and will integrate more seamlessly not to mention be a cleaner install. This is based solely on reviews. I have not heard the Invisa speakers first hand but I have heard everything I recommended and think the T5s and Aon2s would be an amazing combo. You've already got the subs covered. SVS gets great reviews so I have no doubt they will be great. There is always a way to make the speakers you want work... I'm sure there is some sort of bracket or something you could use if you wanted to use the Aons. No problems, just solutions... ;)
