New to the forums but lot of questions. I am very new to this so any advice would be great.
I am moving in May into a house with a L shaped basement. The wife gave me the green light to convert the longer portion of the L into a home theatre set up. Based on the research i have made so far this is the set up i have planned. The goal is an atmos set up

Receiver - Marantz SP7009
Front - Two Triton 5's
Center - Supercenter XL
Ceiling - 4 Invisa 650
Rears - Two Triton 5's
Sub - PB-2000
Amp - None planned but was advised -->Emotvia XPA-5

Does this seem like this set up is on the right track for a larger basement set up or are there any glaring issues with this set up?

CanadianMike,

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of experienced members here as well as great support from GoldenEar. You're in the right place to get your theater planned out.

While the Triton Fives aren't out quite yet and I haven't had a chance to listen to them first hand, all indications are they will be phenomenal. I think you're definitely on the right track with the equipment. Integration and set up will be the key to making it all come out as planned.

My only word of advice would be to double check your subwoofer selection. If your not interested in the GoldenEar subs, I think I would at least recommend a sealed SVSound. I think the Merlin Wizard at their site will recommend the SB-13 for the Triton Fives. A quick phone call to them should get you narrowed in on the best choice for your application; otherwise, members here and reviews online give high marks to the ForceField 5.

Please keep us posted on your selection process and the build. I'm doing something similar in a home we purchased in June. It's a fun and exciting process! Enjoy the journey.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Cool setup - only one issue, how tall is your ceiling? Atmos in-ceiling speakers, for ceiling heights below 9ft, we feel the HTR 7000s placed outside the listening area is best.

Should be approx 7 feet as a standard basement. How many HTR7000 would be best suited in a long open space? Also how should they ideally be positioned for maximum effect?

CanadianMike,

Check out the link above for various Atmos layouts. There are typically 2 or 4 height speakers placed in relation to your primary seated position.

Cheers,

Thanks. I was not sure if one HTR 7000 was worth one Invisa 650 since it appears much larger in the picture.
