I am adding side surrounds to my GE system. I currently have GE Triton Ref for front L/R, SuperCenter Ref for center channel, and GE Triton One for back surround. I also have four GE HTR-7000 for Atmos channels.

I am adding side surrounds and needed some help/advice for which model to go with. I was thinking either the SPS or MPX.

Thanks!

Hi, grg1120

Nice speaker setup! I have similar and love it.

Re adding side surrounds in the form of either SPS or MPX, I assume right now your T1's are receiving 5.1 formatted surround channel inputs, and it sounds like your intention is to move the T1's to 7.1 rear surround channels and have the new SPS's or MPX's start receiving the 4th and 5th channel surround inputs previously sent to the T1's, and the T1's start receiving added 6th and 7th channel inputs?

How are you set up now re LFE feeds and inputs to the T1's? If you have LFE connections to the T1's left intact, they'll still get those inputs. What may change some is the content sent to the T1's as rear surrounds receiving the new 6th and 7th channel outputs, which may or may not have the same content as the 4th and 5th channel content they were receiving in 5.1 format.

Re choosing between the MPX and SPS, budget issues aside, I'd go for the SPS, with a speaker configuration the same as the SC Ref.

Great system already! Adding SPS's or MPX's only makes it better.

Have fun with your project!!!

With a system like yours the SPS is the ideal choice. The MPX will work pretty well but the smaller drivers (and only two per speaker) won't have the dynamic range that the rest of your system has.
