I'm moving to a new home, where I'll have my HT in basement.
There's a large rectangular area where I can have seating and speakers.
But the room is very wide and it goes back way too far to have my side surrounds mounted too any walls.
So essentially my couch will be in the middle of a huge room, facing a front soundstage that will be against a wall.
So my front stage will be perfect: I will have TV on wall with my SuperCenter XL and Triton 5's. Perfect.
I want.ideally a 5.1.4 system though.
* Would it be remotely viable to have GE speakers in ceiling for just my rear surrounds AND Atmos? I def have enough ceiling area that I can put my ceiling speakers anywhere (ideal locations). But having rear surround speakers in ceiling with Atmos speakers concerns me...
Can one truly get the GE's to project sound in such a way they sound like ear-level speakers but are in the ceiling?
If so, which would be the best for the REAR SURROUNDS? And which would be best for Atmos? I'd like the most top of the line GE makes for each application: ceiling rear surround and ceiling Atmos.
This is assuming having GE's for both rear surround and Atmos(4) is even viable. If it's not then I guess I get two more Triton 5's for rear surrounds. Since they are big and stable , it wouldn't be too terribly God-awful looking to have them in middle of living room. But the wires sticking out back would still be a bit of an eye sore. One thing for sure is I can't keep my existing rear surrounds - Aon 3's... Because it would be too precarious having them on stands, out in the open, with my toddler running around. AND they would be an eye sore much more so than T5's back there.
Any advice is appreciated!
