I've got a 5.1 system with 5 HTR 7000s and an SVS sub in my main living room and absolutely love the sound. I am about to start finishing my basement, and will have a TV down there (not a dedicated Home Theater, just an area for TV/movie watching and playing video games). Because of having a small child, I can't do floor-standing speakers (plus, the wife doesn't like them that much). So I've decided that I need to do an in-wall or on-wall setup -- can't do in-ceiling because of the duct work in the basement. So I've narrowed it down to:

Front L/R: Invisa 650 or Invisa MPX or SuperSat 60
Center: Supercenter XL
Rear L/R: Invisa MPX

What do you guys think of that? And more importantly, which would you go for as the fronts? It seems to me that the 650 would have a bit more output because of the larger driver than either the SuperSat 60 or MPX. How does the sounds compare between the three? And just looking at the speaker design, it really seems like the 650 is more suited as a front speaker than the MPX. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I want to have great sound, but unfortunately can't do floorstanding. Or would I be better suited with the Aon 3s?

Hi bsotak,
I am not sure where you would put them, but you mentioned the Aon 3s. They are remarkable speakers for their size and price and I would go with them!!!! And add the SC XL in the center, and add a sub (ForceField 4 or 5) if you can to get some serious bass for movies, and you are really on your way to having an awesome sounding system. Then the rear surrounds can be whatever works in your situation.
That would make a WOW system!!!!
Enjoy the journey of trying to put together a wonderful sounding/performing system. It is a fun effort.
And enjoy the music and movies.
God Bless,
Wayne

The MPX would be our best in-wall speaker for that application. They are designed for fronts (I've heard some amazing systems with MPX as all five speakers). They are a very-wide dispersion in-wall with excellent power handling for main speaker applications. They actually represent more active driver surface area than any of the other models you mentioned. Aon 3s are great, but on-wall for front main speaker is probably not the best application (on-wall Aons for surrounds is more typical). If you prefer on to in, the SuperSat 60 would be the way to go.

I will have a piece of furniture under the TV for AV equipment and other storage, which I plan on putting the SuperCenter XL on. I could put the Aon 3s at the far edge if I needed to. I think the wife would prefer in-wall, but as long as they aren't floorstanding I think they would be ok.

So it sounds like the MPX are the better choice than the SuperSat 60s or the Invisa 650s. How would you compare the MPX to the Aon 3s?

bsotak,
I have never heard the MPX, so I have to defer to others on that. They look impressive.
But I have heard the Aon 3s several times and they are amazing!!!! At their size and for the money, I just think they are hard to beat.
But your mileage may vary.
Enjoy, God Bless,
Wayne

Aon 3's have a bit more bass extension but otherwise they sound very similar. Imaging and soundstage recreation is a bit different from an in-wall than it is from a bookshelf speaker that's positioned away from boundaries.
