Thanks for the info. I think I'll probably go with 4 MPX and the SuperCenter XL as the center. One more question as I was reading through the manual for the MPX, it said for new construction I could use the custom rough-in brackets. Do you have any information on those? Pictures? How much do they cost? And are they any more effective than just cutting a hole and attaching to the drywall?

One more question on the installation of the MPX. I finally got the 4 MPX and SuperCenter XL, and the basement is finished enough to now install the speakers. Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. The room is rectangular, with the TV up front. I plan on putting the front speakers to the left/right of the TV, a little above ear level of sitting down (bottom edge around 3'). For the rear speakers, I will put them slightly behind the couch, and up fairly high (top edge about 10" down from the ceiling, which is 91" high). Does that sound about right??

Make sure to position the L/R fronts at least as far apart as your listening distance. Height should be middle of speaker at ear level, if feasible. Rear speakers high is a preference thing, if you have no plans for Atmos in the future, mounting high is fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. Probably won't be able to do Atmos because of the duct-work in the ceiling in the basement. Can't do any speakers in the ceiling on the entire left half of the room. Not sure if Atmos can be done with "low" and "high" in-wall speakers, but unfortunately with 7'7" ceilings, that doesn't provide a lot of room for that. For a typical 5.1 setup, do the surrounds just need to be above ear level? If so, I'll probably go with the mid-point around 5-6' high.

And thanks for the clarification on the fronts. I'll need to double check the new sofa that we are getting and put the speaker mid-point at that level. I've got plenty of room on the front walls up and down. And they are just as wide as the couch is from the front wall.
