This is a very interesting thread because I would love to get rid of my SVS sub in favor of the T-Ref or T1+ but I’m concerned that home theater would suffer. I’m currently using Supersat 50 LCR and while they sound fantastic for home theater with my SVS sub, they sound awful for 2 channel music. I’m currently 80/20 home theater but just bought the oppo 205 and would like to take advantage of the USB DAC. Thoughts?

Hello mbraodus,

Consider my approach - two separate systems....... especially since you are satisfied with your present HT setup, consider a separate system optimized for 2-channel audio.

Would love to but do not have the room. I have considered adding 2 bookshelf speakers for 2 channel audio but that would create a lot of clutter and I prefer a clean modern look. I hate rooms with a lot of stuff in them. That's why I would like to get rid of the SuperSat 50s and SVS sub in favor of the T-Refs. Curious how well T-Refs handle home theater application?

mbroadus,
The TRefs would kick butt for home theater!!!!!
And to me there is no difference between a great setup for home theater and a great setup for music, so I cannot see two systems at all. Just my humble opinion.
God Bless,
Wayne

Amen to what Wayne said about the T Ref's!!!

They would indeed kick butt for both music and home theater. It's like having fantastic realism, clarity, and of course bass available for music, and then in home theater mode with LFE also kicking in, it's like two Supersub XXL's have joined the party.

They are special speakers.

Rick
5.4.4 HT speakers: T Ref fronts/LFE 1, SuperCenter Ref, T1 surrounds/LFE 2 + SuperSub XXL, HTR 7000 top fronts, HTR 8000 top rears
Zone 2 speakers; 2 Invisa 525's
AVR: Marantz SR 8015
Amp: AT525NC 5 channel
Cable/TiVo, OPPO BDP 105D, Bluesound Node 2i, Apple tv 4K streamer
48" SONY 4K OLED TV

Thanks for easing my mind...I guess the T-Refs built in subs have some thump! I would pair them with SuperCenter XL and move the SuperSat 50s to surround duty.

Just looking at the specs of the T-Ref and SVS PC-2000 , it seems as though the built in sub of the T-Ref would be more than adequate and better than what I currently have and have dual subs as a bonus.

T-Ref sub - 1800 watt SuperSub digital
SVS PC-2000 - 500 watts RMS (1100 watts peak)
