Suppertime,

I would recommend at least auditioning the T2+. If you can get a home theater demo with them hooked up via LFE to operate as the subs as well, you will get a good idea how well they can operate in that capacity. My T1s were perfectly capable of providing enough LFE for my theater even though I added an additional sub later for 360 degrees of dispersion. It was certainly not needed. I have my gain knob on my T1s at the 1:00 position and my LFE set to -13 in my receiver. I other words, there is plenty of headroom for additional bass. The T2 sub section is also very powerful.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Any suggestions on speakerwire that pairs well with Triton's?

I like to keep things simple but the sky is the limit here. There are a lot of variables. Did you decide on a speaker yet? This option is very neutral and would work well in a variety of setups. It's also inexpensive, relatively speaking. It's a good starting point while you sort out your gear. You can always go higher end later to tweak your system once you have everything in place.

Not yet. Just trying to put a figure on total costs. I know absolutely nothing about speakerwire so I didn't know if it's going to cost me $50 or $250. I understand it can go up to crazy numbers but I'm looking to keep it simple on this front and get something quality but not rack my brain or wallet on the wire.

I don't have $1,000 in the budget for speakerwire.

We're coming from the same place then, Suppertime. The Belden cable is $1.30 a foot and is 10 guage. You shouldn't need any more than that. If you have long runs and want to save money, I have been very happy with my 12 gauge Monoprice speaker wire. In fact, if you want solid quality and low cost, Monoprice is hard to beat all the way around. I think it's a great place to start while your initially putting things together.

Suppertime,

When compared to the speakers, amplifier/processor, and the room itself, speaker wire has the least amount of impact on overall sound quality (dollar for dollar) for the typical residential room/budget. Because of this, I like to use the rule of thumb of 10% for wiring (including subwoofer cables, HDMI/Optical Cables, power cables, etc.) So if you have a budget of $5,000, I'd recommend ~$4,500 for your equipment and ~$500 for your cables.

The most important thing about speaker wire, imo, is that you have the correct gauge (thickness) of wire based on the length you need. For piece of mind, 14gauge seems to be a common fallback recommendation on many forums.

Best,
-Dark
