Trying to make a final decision on this.

So, I picked up a nice H/K signature 5 channel amp for next to nothing. 100wpc, high current, huge transformer etc. For what I paid - I can sell it easily if I don't like or need it.

Was $1600 bucks back in the day.

So, this has led to looking for a pre-pro to go with it (I think). I do believe I'd like the option of the room correction software.

Strongly considering the Emotiva UMC200, I like the profile and the specs, though it sounds like it needs a number of firmware updates. Lower profile is nice, specs are good etc. Sounds like the room correction software is OK.

Also kicking around an Anthem MRX300, and just using it as a pre-pro. The big difference in the two would be the anthem ARC software it appears.

I believe that the "issues" with ARC and the Triton's/built in subs was more internet confusion that anything else?

So, the question I have - is the ARC worth it?

The one other option is the all in one box solution. Receiver wise the MRX700 would seem to make the most sense. I like to listen loud.

Would love thoughts on if ARC is that much better, and if it still makes the most sense to run a pre/pro with that H/K amp, over a bigger receiver.

I'd love to try and anthem and compare it to the Emotiva, but only the Emotiva has the 30 day trial.

Thanks, would love to hear the ARC thoughts, and honestly anyones experience with the Emotiva.

ARC is great and I believe much better than any other consumer Room EQ system. I know it is "stripped down" a bit on the receivers but is still excellent. You are right, the issues with the Tritons and Anthem receivers were internet conversations and not reality.

I will tell you that you should limit the Max HF when running ARC with the ribbon-tweeter GoldenEar speakers. I'd suggest 500Hz or 1000Hz, but certainly not the default 5000Hz.

Can't say about HK power amp vs. MRX700 - HK amp probably has more guts, but who knows?

So therein lies my decision... is ARC worth the extra money to buy a receiver and let the amp section sit idle... or are there things the UMC-200 pre-amp does better (cleaner sounding? I simply don't know)

Any chance anyone has experience with both?

Thanks!

I'm running a Anthem Statement D2v and have decided not to run ARC. I've also removed equalization from the center channel. In my opinion my system has never sounded better. A couple years ago I had the PROS come over and set the system up with ARC, but now I'm liking it better without. By the way... Emotiva has Upgrade For Life. Purchase a processor from Emotiva and become a discount holder for life. As an original owner of a Generation 3 Emotiva processor (UMC-200, XMC-1, and beyond) or Generation 2 upgrade certificate, you will receive 25% off any model they sell, whether it's a current model in stock, or a distant modeel in the future. GOOD LUCK!!

Cool,

Think I'll go for the Emotiva, figure I have 30 days to return anyways and the reviews are tremendous.
