Well that's a relief
The suggestion of two FF3's was a good one. The FF3 is an amazing product, it actually plays almost as low as the FF5, just not with nearly as much total output capability. It is the only sub-$500 subwoofer I know of that has legitimate 20Hz extension in-room. Using my measuring equipment (calibrated mic at listening position) I measured the ForceField 3 FLAT to 21.5 Hz in my room. With a pair in a small-ish room I think they would be incredibly satisfying.

At what DB? How far was the sub away from you? Have you measured a FF4/5 in your room?

I think the minimum I will do is 2 4's and maybe even 2 5's.

Full range sweep at 80 dB I believe. At about 14 feet away. Never measured the max dB at low frequencies (hard to do in-room).

I have measured all, FF4 was room flat to about 22Hz, FF5 was about 20.5Hz. Both play quite a bit louder than the FF3.

So the three actually goes lower than the four but the four has much greater output?? Interesting.

Does not having a phase control hamper running dual FF's? I have tried to run dual subs before and was never satisfied with the way they sounded. I was convinced it was because I never had the phases right. If I run two one would be corner loaded in the front and the second would be somewhere in the back, behind or beside the main listening position.

Receiver is a onkyo tx-nr818 which has room correction but it will not correct each individual sub(from what I understand).

Yep, I agree. I've had the same experience with multiple subs not on the same wall - not sure if its phase related as I have tried with subs that had phase controls to no avail. Also, although personal preference, after experimentation I reached the conclusion I don't like subs in the rear of the room. My dual sub systems are always two subs in the front.

The room correction will EQ for the summed output of the two subs in the room, which is fine.

I am considering buying a new receiver with Sub EQ HT which will automatically adjust each individual sub. Then it's a question of dual 4's or dual 5's.

Dual FF5s dude, then you KNOW you got it!!!!!
