Hi - when I was talking features I most certainly did not mean sub mute. Although that may be a worthwhile feature in your pro-sound world, it has no use in a home audio or home theater environment. What DOES have value is the ability to listen to your system full range without the sub, and that actually is functionality that exists in some receivers and processors, allowing you to change from one audio configuration (with sub and crossovers) to another (without sub and full range) with the change of input.

The feature I WAS referring to is the ability to remotely control the sub's volume. Every modern receiver and processor I know of has a sub level control on the remote. Some are even just one button access (others require two pushes, once to select sub, next to adjust volume up or down). My point here was that duplicated features are a waste of the consumers' money, money that can be better spent on getting better performance.

Well, I am not sure this is what I want, but I can find a way by remote control to lower the volume of the LFE channel. It takes a few key strokes with an overlay screen on top of the movie, but I can lower the level. Is that what you are referring to?

That's probably it for yours - some remotes have a sub button that once pressed turns the volume +/- buttons into a sub-out volume control. Others have sub volume buttons.

Overall the replies were positive. 2 dealers recommended the GE FF above all, a couple included it in several subs they recommended(I asked them to recommend a couple) and a couple didn't mention it initially buy when I replied and specifically asked about it all of them had good things to say.

One of the dealers recommended 2 FF 3's over a FF5 due to room size. My concern is the FF3's ability have worthwhile output at <30hz. I am ruling out the FF3's but would consider 2 FF4's or one FF5. Any thoughts from the users or the moderator here?

Well that's a relief
The suggestion of two FF3's was a good one. The FF3 is an amazing product, it actually plays almost as low as the FF5, just not with nearly as much total output capability. It is the only sub-$500 subwoofer I know of that has legitimate 20Hz extension in-room. Using my measuring equipment (calibrated mic at listening position) I measured the ForceField 3 FLAT to 21.5 Hz in my room. With a pair in a small-ish room I think they would be incredibly satisfying.
