Hello
im purchasing a setup for my home theater, my room size is 13ft × 16ft...
The system will be used 60/40 movies and music.
The options I considered are:
Option 1 :
2 pairs of Triton 7, fronts and surrounds
Super center xl for the center
Two Force Field 5 subs
paired to yamaha rxa 2040 a/v

Second choice:
2 pairs of Triton 2, front and surround
Super center XL for the center
paired to Yamaha RXA 2040

The only issue I'm facing is could the Yamaha rxa 2040 a/v drive Triton 2 we'll?
If I got option 2... would I miss the force feild 5s?
I have the yamaha 2040, so I'm using it for the setup.
Are external amp necessary? I could buy a separate amp later and connect it to the yamaha a/v
What would be a better setup, what are your recommendations?

Thanks

Based on my own experience, I'd go with T1's for fronts instead of the T2's, and forego the 2 FF5's. The T1's wpuld provide all the bass you'd ger from 2 FF5's and then some, with zero bass integration issues. The T1's are awesome! The detail and SMOOTHNESS just has to be experienced.

BUT, everyone's tastes are different. Listen to all the combinations you're thinking about at your dealer. It's you that has to be happy with what you get.

I would think option 2 would be better because the Triton 2s are giving you better sound than the Triton 7s. And, the Trition 2s would be 4 subwoofers over 2 FF5s, so that's more subs in your room. It's also more power, albeit at these levels of power, probably a moot point. I would think your AVR has enough power given the bass management and built-in amps of the Triton 2s. If not, sure, add an amp later. I think you've got a good plan here.
7.1 today, moving to 7.1.4 tomorrow
(2) Triton Two - front mains
(1) Sat 60C - center
(2) Sat 50s - sides
(2) Sat 50s - rear
(2) DIY 18" Stereo Integrity subs, 1100w each

Hi, again M.K.M.

This may take awhile.. sorry for the brevity of my earlier post.... I had recommended auditioning T1's as well. Let me explain a bit further. The fronts are the mainstay of any system. I started with T2 fronts, Invisa surrounds and rears, and a Supercat 50c center and progressed in steps to what I have now, as GE offered new products: T1's fronts, T2's surrounds, SCXL center and Invisa 525 rears (the T1 fronts, T2 surrounds, SCXL combination is now what GE plays at CES shows along with INVISA speakers for ATMOS effects). As Wayne has repeatedly recommended, start with the best (front) speaker you can afford.

I just fell in love with the T1's.. they are in a class by themselves, so clear, so detailed, so powerful in a controlled way. You may want to audition T1's as fronts, SCXL as center (or wait for the SCXXL), and to keep within your budget, AON's as surrounds (T. Cobe could provide a lot more detail on this combination). In any case, the combination of T1's fronts, SXCL center and Aons surrounds would keep you in your speaker budget and leave you with the option to upgrade the surrounds later (towers like T7's, T5's, T3's, T2's) without needing to change the front T1's.

I'm not familiar with your Yamaha 2040 amp, but powered GE towers are easy to drive.

I'm in the North for awhile, away from from my GE setup, listening to Bose Waves or Harmon Kardon soundbars with sub's. The difference from GE speakers is amazing... the guitar riffs are no longer so crystal clear, the bass is no longer so lean and powerful. I guess I'm GE spoiled.

In all cases, it's what pleases your ears that counts, but you are surely on the right path. Any of the options you outlined would work for you.. all the options represent great speakers that sound so well together. Good luck and keep us posted!

Rick

Hello Rock

I listened to multiple setups yesterday and finally decided to go for:
Triton 2 front and surround
Super center XL for center
Pair of FF5 subs
I loved this setup
:)

Hi, M.K.M,

I second Rick's suggestion regarding Triton Ones. I started with Triton Sevens added as my Fronts. The Triton Sevens are really good speakers but I realized that better sound integration was probably possible with the Triton Ones with their amplified subs. After auditioning Triton Ones with music from my CD collection, I confirmed my decision to add the Ones as my Fronts. I moved my Sevens to the Rear of my room, but I drive them with a separate AV Receiver as "Rear Fronts", rather than as surrounds.

Everything that has been said about the Triton Ones and their ability to reproduce music accurately is spot-on on my opinion.

My recommendation: Go with the Ones as your Fronts, then add other speakers as your budget permits. Even if you have to wait a while for your ideal surrounds, you will still have the Ones to enjoy.

Best,

Art
