Hello! I think I know the answer to this, but I wanted to make sure. Does the SC Ref match older GE speakers like the Triton 5's and Aon 3's? I have a 5.2 system (T5's, Aon 3's, and SC XL, 2 SSXXL's). I'm probably 90/10 movies/TV to music, so it seems to me it would be a better upgrade, speaker-wise, to upgrade the center rather than the towers (to T1.R's).

Yes, the Reference Center will be a fine match for the Triton Fives up front, as well as the rest of the GoldenEar speeakers.

Hi, HTNUT1975

I was kind of waiting to see Moderator Dude's response since my inclination is to always go for the best speakers, especially center channel when the system is mostly used for HT duty.

All generations of GET speakers play together tonally perfectly! That still amazes me. What does change with the newer speaker models is that the clarity keeps getting better without losing a bit of integration tonally with all GET speakers.

I have the SuperCenter Ref, and love it!!!
And that is vs the prior XXL. I think you will be just amazed at what the SC Ref does for clarity, dynamics and just plain sweet, natural sound over the XL.

Enjoy!!!!!

Wow thanks for the thorough reply. I had originally picked the XL for its size and have had it located in the speaker cabinet that my TV stand has (it is as if it’s size is designed for it). But now I plan on putting a speaker on top of the stand and mount the tv, low, to the wall behind it.

I forgot to add, the listening position is relatively close to the speaker. About 7 ft. Not sure if that makes much of a difference, since we probably won’t crank it quite as loud as we would were we 10+ feet away.

No problem. You can set appropriate gain and distance in your receiver.

And you can use the supplied adjustable rubber feet to aim your new SC Ref at your ear level in your listening position.

You're gonna' love that speaker!!!!
