Last night while watching MadMen, I could understand the actor's whispers without any problem (no "huh, what did she just say?"). This is a first after 13 years in the hobby and going through 5 different center channels along the way.

I would characterize the experience to be more full and not just louder. I'd say anchor your system with this speaker if you can afford it and have the space because it is that much better than the scx (I cannot vouch for the scxl).

This is exactly why I want to have the SCXXL as my center.

Just not sure if it will be possible with HTR 7000s as front left and front right.

Any chance your local GEt dealer can provide a set-up with HTR 7000 heights (or other INVISA speakers) and SCXXL at close to ear level for you to audition with DVD's or CD's that would demo audio moving right/left/right from heights through a center to hear for yourself? That would go a long way to seeing how YOU would like such a set-up. That's the beauty of all this.... we each get to choose what works and sounds best for our individual tastes/budgets/listening preferences/room conditions/spousal requirements, etc. etc.

Yeah I may try to demo. Was more curious if anyone (including GE) had tried it before and was happy with the setup.

Hey gang, was hoping someone with the setup would have chimed in...

Short answer, we have heard this setup (properly) and it is marvelous.

Long answer, the Invisa HTR 7000 is basically an Aon 3, and everyone on the forum will tell you the Aon 3s are spectacular - a Triton tower without the bass extension. If you do the geometry correctly (seating distance vs ceiling height), you absolutely cannot tell that the sound is coming from above with the HTR 7000s as the front mains. Read some of the press we have gotten on our setup at shows, and some of the reviews, we actually fooled people into thinking the speakers in front of them were playing.

Any of the center speakers will match in this setup, although it is pretty clear from comments here that the SuperCenter XXL is very special - and the performance of the center does contribute in a big way to the overall audio experience in home theater playback. And, having the traditional center speaker location (above, below or behind the screen) actually improves the illusion that the front speakers are ALL in front of you.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm pretty sure I have the right space to set it up so the geometry will work (10 foot ceilings, 16 feet to couch).

If you've seen this work I'm almost 100% positive I'm going with this setup.

Very exciting to be able to do something a little unconventional but still have it sound amazing. Once I get it installed I'll let people know how it worked!
