If I have two subs and Triton 5's, is 80 crossover still best? I've read some T1 and T2 owners say 80 because they blend well. But I only have Triton 5. Would 40 or 60 be better?

My 2 cents: Try it and find out, there's no harm in trying it! Let your ears be the judge.

Of note, the lower the crossover the more taxation from your amplifier, since you are using more range from your T5s. On movies, 40-80 Hz sounds like a good balance, on music, you might just have your T5s run as full or large.

Also I run no crossover on my T1s and run them as full. I also run FF4 on my 2nd subwoofer out, crossover at 80 for my other channels when set to small. T1 and T2 are so capable, it requires no crossover! (Please correct me if I'm wrong here) So the 80 figure sounds like to taste and not really taking full utilization of the T1 and T2 powered subs!

Enjoy!

I was asking about crossover on center only. T1 and T5 owners seem to put crossover on ss xl at 80, because they crossover to t1 and T2 so well.

But I have t5's. So I'm curious what the experts would think the crossover should be for ss xl when being used with triton 5 and 2 very capable subs. I mean can't voices go down to 40hz? So should I do 40 on ss xl?

Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Although the same applies to try those settings in your environment, however, I found it more important on my setup wasn't exactly the crossover which I have set to 80Hz, but my receiver settings to make the vocals more apparent, which audyssey set too low. I'm sure some other can help add to conversation here.

Hello DaveyMac and fopmc,
I think fopmc's suggestion to try it and see if you can hear any difference is a good one.
MOST people suggest and MOST people run with the crossover at 80 for the center channel. I am guessing that is because this
is a pretty generally successful setting. That is what I use with the (slightly less capable than yours) SC X.
That way, anything that is below 89 Hz will get routed to your T5s or sub.
Mine sounds great, I hope you find a setting that sounds great to you.
Happy listening and have fun with it,
God Bless,
Wayne

Thanks for chiming in Wayne :)

Also very quickly from Google:
"The voiced speech of a typical adult male will have a fundamental frequency from 85 to 180 Hz, and that of a typical adult female from 165 to 255 Hz." That is, the frequency ranges (of the fundamental frequency) are about an octave apart, for males and females."

If it's on the internet...
