Everyone,

Here is an update on Sheryl's Surgery:

Surgery was on June 29 at Duke University Medical. The surgery was completely successful and performed under a minimally-invasive procedure. She was discharged on July 4. We have been at our daughter's home in Raleigh where she has been recovering her strength. We have been out several times, including visiting our daughter's church for Sunday Services.

She is making steady progress with no complications so far. We plan to return home to Johnson City, TN on Tuesday July 10.

She will return to Duke on July 24 for followup checkups and to learn the results of the pathology. The surgery involved removal of her Thymoma, along with the upper lobe of her left lung and the pericardial lining from the left side of her heart. The Thymoma was large and attached to both sets of tissue.

We are hoping that the pathology yields a completely benign result.

We are pleased and grateful for the skills of the surgical team and for the care she has received.

Thanks to all for your prayers and concerns.

Best,

Art

Hi Wayne,

We visited Duke Medical on Tuesday last for Sheryl's post-surgical X-Ray and follow-up medical visits. The pathology indicated that the thymoma was not a thymic carcinoma and that the margins and lymph nodes which were removed were not malignant. It appears that the surgery was completely successful and that all malignant tissue was removed. The X-ray indicated normal post-surgical healing and recovery. She has been released to fully resume all normal activities.

At this time, no further treatments of any kind are indicated.

She is now working to recover her full strength and stamina. We will return to Duke in late January 2019 for another C-Scan and consultation to be sure that there are no new active cells. She will also be tested again for Myasthenia Gravis. Since she is currently asymptomatic, the hope is that the Myasthenia Gravis will resolve now that the thymoma has been removed.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concerns.

Best,

Art
