Both T. Cobe and Wayne have made excellent suggestions. I can offer a couple of additional thoughts regarding your sound sources. I am streaming all of my music from an older, but dedicated, laptop to a Peachtree DAC, connected to my Onkyo NR 3009 AV Receiver. My original music sources are either CDs, DVDs, or high-resolution file downloads. I do have one MP3 file which contains a special recording I cannot have in any other format, so I have the opportunity to compare these various formats as I listen to my Triton Ones.

I listen to all my music in the "Pure Audio" mode on my Onkyo (this mode is similar to "Direct", but turns even more circuitry off in the Onkyo for 2-channel stereo listening).

I can hear very substantial differences in sound quality when listening to the MP3 file, as compared to the 44 Khz standard CD quality files. My high-resolution files (96 Khz, 24 Bit resolution) sound even better than CD-quality.

I also have my entire music file collection stored on my main laptop. I have a 2.1 Logitech speaker set (two speakers and a powered sub) which I carry with me when I travel. I connect these speakers to the headphone jack on my computer. This setup provides nice music for when I am away from home, but there are certainly noticeable differences when compared to my home setup.

So, I can easily believe that you would notice considerable improvements in sound just by streaming from CD-quality or better files directly from your computer via its headphone jack. Before you purchase any additional equipment, I urge you to try streaming a known CD-quality or better music file from your computer to your Denon, or connect a CD or DVD player to the Denon and play a CD or DVD.

This approach should provide you with a baseline for evaluating any new equipment you might be considering to see if you can notice additional sound improvements to warrant the costs of any such new gear.

I checked my Opportunity BDP-103d last night to see if it has the Tidal app and it does. I think my first recommendation would be to upgrade to a good disc player with streaming apps and a DAC so you can take your phone out of the equation. The Oppo BDP-105 would be my first recommendation. It has audiophile outputs and a lot of capabilities.

From there, it gets tricky. I only use 2 channels in my bedroom for tv and music. There are not a lot of great options out there for this practice. High quality integrated amps don't do HDMI. I could use the coax out on my DIRECTV box going into an integrated and I may try that later with the New ELAC integrated amplifier if it gets good reviews. Depending on the audio outputs on your television "tuner", you may have similar options.

Sorry to hear your dealer wasn't much help. It doesn't sound like they took a great deal of time with you inpicking out a supporting cast for your T1s. They are great speakers but are very revealing. They will reproduce exactly what you feed them. You may want to go back and ask what they have for 2-channel integrated amps with home theater bypass. If they continue to be unhelpful, drive to another dealer.

Keeping within your $4,000 budget, the Oppo BDP-105 and Parasound Halo Integrated should be a great option. Hegel also makes some outstanding integrated amps that sound fantastic with the T1s. Peachtree would be a more economical solution and they have put a fair amount of technology into their latest Nova amps to allow high quality music playback from mobile devices. The Nova150 or 300 may be all you need.

Going out and doing a few auditions should guide you in the best course of action for you. Everyone's preferences are different. I really like my Emotiva gear and they would be another option as well. It's best to listen for yourself so you can determine what sounds best to you. Additionally, assigning value to any product is also a very individual thing. Take comfort in the fact that you got the speakers right and that you are well on your way to great sound! Cory, you've undoubtedly sorted through a lot of meaningful feedback already, but I'd also like to weigh in given that you've correctly concluded the cause as it pertains to the title of this thread is your source, not the speakers.

As for T Cobe's Oppo 105 recommendation, I would second that. However, at this point in the game, you may be better off waiting for the forthcoming UDP-205, the 4K player. It should be obtainable by the end of Q1 2017.

Quick update. I went to a local shop and picked up a high power Anthem amplifier and Dragon fly red DAC to use with my PC. The result is night and day from no DAC and my Denon AVR. Even at low volumes the sound is rich and full through the entire range. I am very happy with my current set-up. Thanks everyone for steering me in the right direction; now I fully understand just how good these Triton ones really are.
