Hello all: I have dedicated room which is almost perfectly cube shaped: 12 X 11.5 X 12. This is the only room I can use for a dedicated music room. I actually get very good imaging/sound staging due to careful speaker placement and some acoustic treatments.

I want to keep the staging and imaging, and also dramatically improve the bass response......without the use of a separate subwoofer or overloading my small room. Is anyone using one of the Triton towers in a room similar to mine?

I am using an Ayre AX7e integrated amp. My current speakers are high quality stand mounts. The system is set up for "mid-field" listening. I am sitting about 86" inches away from the speakers and they are placed roughly 2.5' from the back and side walls.......so I can create a little more room between my listening position and the speakers if needed.

I have a pair of Triton Threes in a room just a bit smaller than yours and I think they sound fantastic. I'm sitting fairly nearfield, but the imaging is still wonderful and the 2 active woofers helped flatten out the bass response which was a huge problem before in my room. It doesn't dig as deeply as the 12inch Velodyne that used to occupy the room, but what is there is tight, clean, and most importantly NOT distracting. Definitely recommended.

Agreed, that will be a nice setup with Triton Threes. Should sound wonderful. As far as bass loading in the small room, the wonderful thing about the Triton Threes is you can dial down the bass a bit at the speaker, allows for more placement flexibility too. You may want to move them closer to the side walls and toed-in more so you can have a bigger soundstage, dialing the bass volume down a tad to adjust for the corner loading.

Thanks much for the replies. I have two dealers nearby and I will go hear the Three's soon. The powered sub will take some of the workload off of my Ayre which now has to deliver to my Totem Model One Signatures over the full frequency range. Other than a very limited low frequency response the Totem's have been good speakers, but I think it is time to move on. Thanks again for responding, jimmieg

If you can, I would also recommend that you audition the Triton 7. I have a room very similar to yours and the Triton 7 is perfect. I personally think the Triton 7 images better than the 2 (I may be wrong), but does not have quite the power. I have not listened to the 3.

When I am not actively listening, the recliner I use for music listening is off to the side (so that it symmetrical with the rest of the furniture in the room). When I am going to listen, I move the recliner so that it is close to the middle (between both the Tritons) and almost exactly in the position recommended by the goldenear instruction manual (with the Tritons slightly toed-in).

The result is very clear, transparent music with a large soundstage. Give the 7 a try, you may like it and it may save you some money!

The Moderator Dude and others have cheered the Trition 3s, as I would too. Bro Santhosh loves his Triton 7s, which I have not had the chance to hear, but he seems to know what he is talking about too. I am sure they are great. I like the upgrade you will get in bass with the T3s.
BUT, just to throw one more idee into the mix, please have a listen to the Triton 2s as well, IF you can. I know you are thinking they are too much speaker for your small room (which is not THAT small). But the bass on them can be dialed down too, just like the T3s.
My point to several is this: IF you like these speakers as I think you will, you may have them for life, or at least for MANY years!!! Buy the BEST speakers you can afford NOW. Rooms change much more often than I change my beloved speakers.
Next year the T2s might be just what you need in a new room.
Just sayin'. Give them a listen, but for full range sound, better than the Totem poles, I think you will love the sound of music through the Tritons.
