OK, OK, Bro Rick, I finally got to listen (loudly) to the whole Gamut of Bach played by Virgil Fox.
Who said they liked this? Who said it was good music? Did we say that, or that it was good for testing out our beloved Triton Ones?????
Well, it is good for that. And I was well pleased, but not with the music so much. Some of it is OK, I especially like it when he pulls out all the stops and gets down!!! That is an old organ joke!!! And I am sumthin' of an expert on old organs!!!!
Stop it!!!!
My favorite was "Air on a G String". Oh, no, I am not even touching that!!!!
Seriously, loved the bass, depth the Ones could plumb unaided by the LFE channel or sub.
LOTs of meat and power here!!!!
But the Prof. Johnson's Reference Recording lovingly captured All the audience coughs in fine detail!!!! Come on, must have been flu season!!!!!
At one point I thought, I will go back and count all the coughs I can hear in this recording, but then I thought better of it, I VERY much doubt this disc will ever get outta the sleeve again!!!!
It ain't what I call Rock and Roll!!!!!
But definitely worth the listen, does anybody want to buy a slightly used copy?????
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, Wayne

I think you've accurately described what's good and not about the Bach Gamut. I think the main attraction for me is the way the GEt's, led by the T1's just eat up and spit out, like child's play what a pipe organ can sound and FEEL like.

The "environmental" sounds, including some coughs, shifting in pews, items/programs being put down can be at times distracting, at other times make me feel like I'm there also, sitting in one of the pews. Especially in Dolby surround.

Not an every day play, for sure. Wait for the used CD market for that to get over $200 per copy and you can put it up for sale to the highest bidder! :woohoo:

Happy listening!

Lam Morrison is our local guitar hero. To say he is my buddy is putting too fine a point on it, not sure he knows who he is half the time, let alone the rest of us who love his playing. But he has never refused my buying him a drink!!!! ha ha

Come to Thailand and listen to some rock n roll with me.
God Bless,
Wayne
