Tommorow night I get to hear my Golden Ears again!

Tonight it's just my cheapy headset and youtube... but I was listening to this conductor from China seems to be gaining a lot of steam in the world, so I decided to listen to some of his "work".

I'm really enjoying it! The piece is Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky

Current System:

Projector - Sony VPL-HW55ES
AVR - Onkyo TX-NR838
Fronts - Triton 2s
Center - SuperCenterXL
Surrounds - SuperSat 3s

Ask me about espresso, I'm an expert at that... I'm just learning about audio!

Hey Tetrall,

I love Pics from an Ex. not only the WAY-OVER-THE-TOP orchestral version by Ravel, but I actually like the original piano version.
More info Please Sir????
Thanks and God Bless, Wayne

haha, it's Ravel! here's the youtube link, but I'm using a company "moral" computer and a cheaper set of noise canceling head phones. Here's the link, but I'd love to hear a different version to compare if you got one :)

Thanks Tetrall,
That is lovely but as you said, I cannot what kind of sound it has really, on my laptop speakers.
Is this available on Blu-ray? I couldn't find it on Amazon.

Actually the first time I heard Ravel's arrangement for orchestra, I did not know it was not the original and I thought to myself, "Man, those must be SOME PICTURES!!!!!" to get that kind of reaction.
BUT in spite of the fact that the piano version seems much more in line with the subject matter, Ravel really did a great job with this material. I love it and have always been on the lookout for THE BEST version.
I actually intend to find it and have it, IF I don't already (I own several versions already) now that I am retired.
Since I love Hi Rez sound and visuals too, I suggest you look at this Blu-ray version by Simon Rattle. But I am not saying it is the best version at all.
Happy Listening,
God Bless,
Wayne
