Update, feedback promised:
Herbie's Tenderfoot isolators and super Black Hole CD Mat arrived last Friday. Played a variety of discs over the week end and Monday.
The isolators measurably reduced vibration recorded on the top of the Oppo, and added to detail.
Now to the Mat. Yes, it works just fine on Blu-rays also! Listened to a variety of music, from Beethoven symphonies to the Eagles to k. d. Lang to Mumford and Sons. Same impression on all discs: the sound field definitely gets a bit more vivid, details like drum brushes, the tinkle of small chimes, even a sense of separate instruments in a large orchestra, all stand out more. Kind of like converting speaker cables or interconnects from copper to silver or copper/silver. Not bright, just more vivid. I noticed more details on lots of recordings. So damping vibrations in the spinning disc must be reducing read errors, as advertised!
Bottom line, I'm impressed and will keep both the isolators and Mat.
P.S. Anthem, I'm streaming Fourplay's "Silver" album to my headphones in hi res as I write this. Thanks for the Fourplay tip also!
