Hey, Anthem,

I feel like I am being slowly converted to some forms of jazz, maybe 1 or 2 db at a time! :cheer: (I still don't get "free jazz"!).

My whole life, I have listened for "direction" in music, where's it taking me, what is the message, what's it trying to convey to me? I have to admit, I have more trouble trying to connect all that with jazz. BUT, this thread has done more to expand my horizons on music styles than any other source!

Thanks for keeping the communication open! I may even try this on the GEt's at, say, 65  db!

The albums are continuing to trickle in and I'm having a tough time getting to listen to all of them. I'm finally getting around to Trumpet Summit. This is a very large and dynamic recording. It reminds me a lot of Birdland by the Manhattan Jazz Orchestra in that regard but with less spatial cues. This is a fun recording. Thanks for another great reference, Anthem. I'm running in the 65 to 80 dB range this evening and it's sounding pretty sweet! ;)

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hey folks, got in the CD Boogeyin'! Swamprock, Salsa, & 'Trane by A La Carte Brass & Percussion.
I thought I ordered it based on a recommendation here and wanted to thank the recommender. But searching I can't find the post.
So, if someone recommended it, thanks much. I love this style of Jazz, and this is great music and well recorded.
If I'm the first to mention it, then I wonder where I heard about it but happy to recommend it here!

Pbglavin:
A La Carte Brass & Percussion is a Mapleshade recording. It can be had through their website for $15...Amazon wants $250.30.
As far as I know, it has never been recommended on "Currently Playing"...some funky stuff, though.

Hey Anthem.
Ah must have read about it some audio gear review.
Very nice stuff. Not surprising because I have a lot of Mapleshade and they are always well recorded.
Note you can get the CD used on amazon for .01 + S&H which is how I got it.
