Yes, Art, I know, but IMHO there is almost NO difference between a system optimized for music and one optimized for movies.
With the one exception of bass, I do lower bass for music and increase it a few dBs for movies, I do that with a phone app to my sub, so from my listening position.
And it simplifies life a LOT!!!!!
Just trying to be helpful.
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

My approach is probably a bit different than most with regard to audio and audio-video.

1. All of my music is being streamed from my dedicated music PC.

2. I have gradually simplified my music system to its current electronic configuration of my Cambridge DAC Magic Plus and my Cambridge 851A Integrated Stereo Amplifier.

3. My speakers consist of my two Triton Ones, my Paradigm DSP 3400 Sub and my Klipsch SW 112 Sub. Neither sub has remote control. The Paradigm is used for music only and the Klipsch is shared between music and movies. Sub adjustments are based exclusively on their music impacts and both subs play a "bass-augmentation " role.

4. My movie system consists of a 7.2-channel Cambridge CXR 120 AV Receiver and a 7.1 channel Denon 790 AV Receiver being used exclusively to amplify and control center-channel sound. If we move to Raleigh, I may be reduced to a 5.1 channel configuration due to no location available for side surround speakers.

The key point from all of this seems to be my desire to use a 2-channel amplifier for music. I don't see a practical way to connect my Triton Ones to both my Cambridge 851A and my Cambridge CXR 120. We listen to music every day, but we may go many days without viewing either a movie or TV.

I have space for my Triton Ones and my Altec-Lansing Boleros in the front in Raleigh. Placing the 3 amps and other electronics is also not a problem. The issues are placement of subs and other surround speakers.

Best,

Art
