Hello Mr. Moderator:

I have the following question about how the Triton One's internal crossovers and filters respond to a line-level signal fed directly to the Triton One's LFE Input.

1. Does the line-level signal present at the Triton One's LFE input receive the same filtering and/or crossover treatment as the complete signal coming from the speaker-level inputs? Or, does the speaker-level signal receive additional crossover/filter treatments?

Please note that I am referring to a complete line-level signal, such as the signal which would be present at a Tape Output terminal on an amplifier. I am not referring to an LFE signal, such as would be present at the LFE output of an AV Receiver.

Thanks,

Art

Not sure what you're asking Art. The LFE input is a pass through, it's just sent to the powered section as received and the frequency limits are set by the system's low pass crossover or the content. It is not designed for full range input. The speaker level inputs feed the powered section (as received) and a passive High Pass crossover for the mids and tweeter.

You have answered my question. I am currently experimenting with feeding line-level signals from my Cambridge Amp Record Out to the Triton Ones' LFE Inputs. I am feeding these signals via a pair of passive 200 HZ low-pass in-line filters and via an in-line volume control.

This combination permits me to slightly augment the bass when I am listening to music at very low volume levels. When I am listening at normal room volume or at concert level volume, I use the line-level control to reduce the signal level of this feed to minimum.

The 200 HZ low pass filters remove unwanted mid-range and above signals from the line before the signal reaches the Triton One's LFE inputs. I am glad to learn that there is an active low-pass crossover within the Triton Ones which is also addressing these signals. The in-line volume control allows me to vary the level of the signal going into the Triton Ones' LFE inputs.

Now, I need to determine if this latest experiment has any unwanted effects upon the music to which I listen - most especially classical music.

Thanks for your quick response.

Best,

Art
