Hi, BCTich
Timecop is of course correct, that the SuperCenter series in general has more bass extension capability than the the SuperSat series. They can be crossed at a lower HZ.
Don't know what the rest of your system consists of, but providing for and distributing bass sources is part of the fun and challenge of assembling a HT system. Given that you're wanting to add a center channel, is this your first step toward that goal, or part of a system already in progress?
I'm a believer in distributing bass. All GEt speakers play their role well and work well together. So it's more a question, IMO, of locating and providing for bass support given what GEt speaker options you choose. For SuperSats, some bass support from other speakers in the area works well, as they cover the 100 HZ and up portion with typical GET sound quality . If you have no other bass support up front, then I think you'd want bass help from the new center channel. And yes the SuperCenter XXL has more bass oomph than the XL, but all Super Centers play with bass support down to at least 80 HZ. Would it be too much for your SuperSat 50's? Probably not, it's a question of setting appropriate gains for all. It's more a question I think of how you want to expand your system in total and what speakers, and bass support, you want where.
You haven't mentioned what/how you would like to cover bass and full range sound for the expanded system in total. Can you tell us more about what you have now and what you are envisioning?
Have fun expanding your system!
Rick
