Hello All,

My current GET setup is amazing (SuperSat 60c, Aons3s, SuperSat3s, Invisas for heights and 2 Forcefield 4s).

I'm moving into a new home and finally have a dedicated media room. The image below shows the space:

Some notes on the space:
  1. The room is about 13'x18' and has low vaulted ceilings
  2. The rear wall is all glass sliding doors that will have thick drapes to provide treatment
  3. I can treat the room as necessary
  4. Because of the door locations, I can't put speakers in all 4 corners

I plan on getting the Anthem MRX 1120 receiver. Center channel will be the SCXXL. Likely going 5.X.X, mostly going to be used for HT applications.

I'd like your recommendation on the other speakers choices. A few options I've been considering are below:
  1. Option A: Triton One fronts and Sevens for rears
  2. Option B: Triton 2+ fronts and 2+/3+ for rears
  3. Option C: Triton Reference for fronts and then going to 7 channels with Supersats for rear and surrounds

Questions:
  1. Which option above do you think would be best for a space like this?
  2. Is there a recommended minimum distance from back and side walls for the powered Tritons?
  3. Is there an issue with the height of Sevens for rears (e.g. do they need to be further away or angled up?)?
  4. Is there any point in a space this size going with 7 channels if the additional 2 can only be super sats or am I better going with a solid 5 channels?
  5. Will Supersat 3s work ok for height channels?

Appreciate any direction or advice!

Thanks,
Ryan

Hey Rissack, welcome here and good for you!!!!! Glad you are gonna get a home theater, and with GEt speakers you can't miss.
I will be short and sweet here, because I do think all your options are good.
I have TOnes in front and T2s on the sides/rear. and T 7s in the back. So I think Option A is the best, IMHO.
Option B would be awesome too, heck nothing wrong with Option C.
Go for it.
Happy listening,
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi, Rissack

Wayne already said it, you can't go wrong with any combination of GEt speakers. All models mix and match perfectly, as you no doubt already have found out. That always amazes me.

I guess there are a couple things worth keeping in mind:

1. Front and center channels are the mainstay of a HT system. Fronts will also be the stars if you plan on doing 2 channel listening also.

2. Bass is the most directional part of the sound spectrum, and it's worth thinking about where you want to have the bass sources.

IF you didn't already have 2 FF4 subs to use as part of the system, then I guess I'd lean toward option B, to have four bass sources in the powered Tritons, placed both front and back. Since you can use the FF4's to fill in bass in back (if that's what you're planning to do), then to me going for the best fronts makes a lot of sense. Option A or C seem pretty attractive. If you haven't already, you may want to audition the Ref's, 1's and 2+/3+'s to decide what works best for you.

The great feature of GEt's is that you can't go wrong with any combination. When I first started my GEt "adventure" awhile ago, I was leery of choosing speakers, even GEt speakers, that were too different in driver size or price point, because there must be audible differences in tonal matching. Boy was I wrong. My entire sound envelope is flawless, and has been through every evolution of GEt speakers I've ever owned.

Have fun with your project! I'm betting you're going to love whatever option you choose!

One other thing to think about....

Center channel, another linchpin in a HT system.

Are you planning to use your Supersat 60C in that role? Great speaker. IF you go the T Ref or T1 front route, it's worth thinking about the SuperCenter series. A T1 front/SuperCenter combination is dynamite, for instance.

No wrong choices in any case.

Keep having fun with the project!

Correction to prior post:

Bass is NOT the most directional part of the sound spectrum, but it's well worth thinking about where to place bass sources. (Sorry for the miss wording.)

Thank you!

I plan on going with T1s and the SCXXL up front, sevens for surrounds and using my HSU sealed ULS 15 to fill in for the really low frequencies and smooth response.

Appreciate the help
