I am guilty of having "gauge envy" when it comes to my cables, any audio cables. I likes em BIG thick, LOTS of wire.
BUT, as many of you know, I have to exercise every day now for health reasons, and music is extremely important that not sucking too badly. But my iems, as good as they sound, WHEN THEY SEAT PROPERLY, just don't. One ear I cannot find a good fitting tip and without seating properly the music is just not there, the sound isolation is just not there. The bass is just not there unless I hold it in with my hand every step.
So when I was back in the States I bit the bullet and went to an audiologist and got impressions made of my ears, sent them off to Eartech Music to get a pair of their Quad driver custom in ear monitors made to fit. Here is their facebook page:

www.facebook.com/EartechMusic/photos/a.5...7989/?type=3&theater

I also attached a pic of the inside of these things, look how small, tiny, freakin' little those wires are!!!! If those little wires can carry enough sound to keep me walking, then I guess I don't need to worry about 10 gauge wire everywhere else in my system.
I will report on how they sound later, they are not finished, and not shipped to me yet.
Wait a few more weeks, God Bless,
Wayne

Good going, Wayne!

I've never found in-ear monitors to be comfortable. Maybe I need a custom fit also.....

Happy listening!

Wayne,

The amount of power those microdrivers use does not require much power at all. I'm with you on the home audio cabling: I like thick wires. In my experience, they do a better job. This is most significNt for analog signals.

Local audiologist around my area use Westone for custom molded in ear monitors and hearing protection. They have a variety of solutions and are also highly rated.

Let us know how you like the custom made monitors. It may be something I need to consider as well.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Yeah I went for not too pricey. They are just for walking, not really for any serious listening.
Will report back.
God bless,

Here is a pic of the ciems made for me. They shipped them to a freight forwarder in California, wonder how long before I get them over here on this side of the world?
I am excited, I think they came out looking pretty good. The logo could have been a little larger. I went with two colors because I hate having to get my glasses and looking for the little L and R to find out which ear is which. Ha ha
What do you guys think?
Will report on the sound later.
God Bless,
Wayne
