Hi All,

I have a 15x15 dedicated media room with 9 foot ceilings. The room is currently prewired for atmos with the R,L,C speakers prewired in the wall. I am considering MPX for all 3. For the wife factor, I am considering drywalling the wall prewire area and moving the wire to the ceiling for 7000s for R,L,C. What would you advise? Is there a big difference between MPX on the walls and 7000s positioned on the ceiling?

Thanks,

Adam

Adamb,

Welcome to the forum and great questions! I'm not sure anyone here has experience with both the HTR-7000s and MPX in wall/ceiling speakers other than Moderator Dude. The MPX speakers as your front 3 may cause some issues based on the orientation of the drivers. Midrange drivers are somewhat directional and the configuration of the MPXs are such that they don't fire directly forward. Putting 3 next to each other could cause some frequency cancelling as well. Just a hypothesis. I'm sure Moderator Dude would be able to shed some light on the use of the MPX as front R/C/L main speakers.

GET's product page does list this application, however, I've never heard of them using this setup for a trade show. They have used the HTR-7000s at trade shows and received great reviews. My guess is that both would sound good, but the 7000s would probably be better and less problematic. Your best bet would be to audition both if possible and to engage your GET dealer/installer.

Just a few thoughts to get you started. Hopefully we'll get some more feedback here. You're definitely in the right place for this solution GET puts a great deal of effort and pride in their I wall/ceiling applications where most brands treat them as an afterthought. Happy hunting and please let us know how you get on. Other visitors would benefit from your experience.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hi,

Since I wrote this question I was fortunate enough to be able to speak with Sandy. In case anyone else has the same question, Sandy felt that the MPXs would sound 'marginally' better than the 7000s as L,R,C. He said if the wife factor comes into play to just go with the 7000s and I will be happy. He also said that it would be ok to mix the MPX as L,R & use a super center. All GET speakers tend to work very well together even if not part of the same series. Hope this helps and I still hope to get additional feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Adamb,

Thanks for the follow up. You can't get a more definitive answer than that! That is great to hear for future reference. I wish my locals dealers carried the in-ceiling/wall speakers. It would be good to hear the difference first hand.

I can say the the various models do blend extremely well together. I'm not aware of any other brand that integrates their sound across the various models as well as GET. This is just one more reason they make such great home theater speakers. Please let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

Cheers,

T Cobe
