I am interested in getting some Triton speakers. I heard the Triton Five at CES and I was impressed. My only wish is that the Triton Five have a stronger bass. Something approaching the Triton One? I did consider getting the Triton One but the price is out of my budget or more accurately out of my wife's budget. I would have a hard time explaining why I should spend five grand on a pair of speakers when I could just buy a Bose. No one would understand why unless you are an audiophile, right? There is also the Triton Two or Three but I prefer a passive speaker for the reasons given below.

This brings me to the question of whether Sandy would consider developing a super set of the Triton Five with stronger bass. A Triton Four perhaps? The active bass speakers like the Triton Two or Three is not for me because I will eventually be moving to another country that run their wall voltages at 240V. I could use a transformer but I know it is going to affect the audio quality. GoldenEar did suggest I buy a replacement amp with the 240V rating. This is extra cost I try to avoid. I am also not keen in opening up the speakers and running the risk of damaging something. Secondly, the active bass electronic circuit run the risk of failure with time. When I buy something, I keep it for life. I am not sure if Goldenear will have the replacement parts twenty years from now.

A Triton Five with more bass output and extension would be a Triton One. You can't achieve that in a passive design.

Anyone with functioning hearing will understand and appreciate the difference, no audiophiles required.

None of your reasons for not wanting powered speakers seem valid to me - even the multi-voltage thing is just not correct, a wall transformer will not affect the sound. A Triton Five is as much bass as you're going to get from a passive GoldenEar (or just about any) tower, there are no plans for a larger one.

Hi Caesar,
I will just throw in my 2 cents worth, but I am sure the Moderator Dude knows more than I do.
In my life I have gone back and forth between voltages a couple of times. I have run equipment on voltage transformers
and IMHO, it sucks! Sorry, but from my experience those are the things that go bad.
On the other hand, I am running the Triton 2s and Triton 3s right now on 220 VAC and intend to, hope to for the rest of my life.
I love my T 2s and HIGHLY recommend them, you must have active bass some where, in the main speakers or in a sub. IMHO.
So my recommendation to you is to buy some T 5s or T 7s and use them for now, save up and when you move, then buy some Ones or Twos for the front, and shift the T 5s to the rear surrounds. I use the T 3s as surrounds and T 7s as my rear surrounds in 7.1
There is some audiophile system for you that the wife will surely appreciate WAY more than B^^e crap.
I hope this helps.
It IS worth the struggle.
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

I'm not sure how much sense it makes from a marketing perspective, but I would like to see a Triton Four with the top end of an Aon 3, the powered subs of the T3, and the balanced crossover technology found in the T1s, T5s, and SCXXL. Basically, a T3 on steroids with a bigger mid-range driver and the better crossover.

BTW, welcome to the forum,Ceaser. Your enthusiasm for the Triton's and bass are shared by many of us.

Cheers,

T Cobe
