I'm a new Triton 5 owner and would love to add Atmos to my setup at some point soon.

I'm not in a position to go with in ceiling speakers. Hoping there is some demand for up-firing speaker modules that would fit in place of the top panel on my Triton 5's. I noticed Definitive is making such a module for their towers and I'm hoping GoldenEar does so as well.

I'd order today if they were available!

Anyone else with an interest?

We are totally on board with the Atmos thing, but up-firing speakers on top of the front L/R mains is not the way to do it. Putting anything on top of your Tritons would damage the incredible soundfield they produce.

As far as the up-firing, bounce off the ceiling format, we are experimenting with some product ideas that would do the job properly (assuming correct ceiling height and type) and work for people that cannot put holes in their ceiling. Stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy your speakers.

HERE IS A QUOTE FROM THE MODERATOR 11 MONTHS AGO:
As you can see, he hasn't changed his mind regarding up-firing speakers on the mains.

Next, putting anything on top of our speakers (including your Triton Twos) will most certainly make them sound worse. This is not something that we are going to do. (Sorry for that "duh" moment.) Could we possibly design new models that include height channels? Maybe, but not in our plans at this time as we explore other possibilities beyond our current in-ceiling or on-ceiling solutions.

We would prefer to call these Atmos Enabled speakers something like BOCS (Bounce Off the Ceiling Speakers). So, regarding BOCS, IF your room allows (proper ceiling type and height, which should knock out about 50%), we absolutely don't think they should be on top of your front main speakers. BOCS on top of your rears depends on how you feel about surrounds'/rears' fidelity I guess, and at least that potentially puts the height channel in about the right spot.

Stay tuned for other options from GoldenEar as this new home theater technology takes hold. It is still very early for the home theater Atmos world (limited choices for software and hardware, limited "experience" by listeners, etc.).
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

While this might be heresy, I'm not all that concerned with absolute accuracy when it comes to atmos efx type of stuff. I listen critically to music through two speakers, and have my FUN with movies and entertainment. Even if it meant, putting the up-firing speakers in place for a movie and removing them and setting them on the floor for critical listening I'd be fine with that.

Ok...you can spank me now! :)

Tomaras,

Public spankings aren't really our thing here. What you do in the privacy of your own home is up to you.

Our Moderator Dude has illuded to an Atmos solution and some surprises for CES in January, on separate occasions of course. Maybe CES 2016 will bring an Atmos solution from GET that won't require cutting holes in a ceiling... Stay tuned, I think we should hear something soon. CES isn't that far out now. Last year we got the T5 and SSXXL!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your T5s! We'd all like to hear more about your system if you willing to share. Pics are always appreciated too. Happy listening!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hi, Moderator Dude

Thanks for your hints about future products. since I am considering adding a front ATMOS channel to complement my "top middle" channel, any hint on future products would be appreciated. Right now I'm eyeing HTR 7000's....

Thanks!
