Hi
I am finishing my basement and would like to setup a 5.1.4 Atmos
system. I would like to set it up using two Triton one speakers in
front and a supercenter XL in the center and two rear speakers on the
rear. Thus the 5.1 speaker setup on the floor is decided.

My ceiling is 9.1 inches high; triton 1 (front towers) will be
separated by 10.5-11 ft,. Any ceiling speaker can be placed at-most 17
ft away from the screen.

Based on the dimension of the room the person will sit 13 ft from the
screen, and following dolby guidelines (see 5.1.4 HeightPlane.pdf) I
calculate the distance of the front atmos speakers to be 9.2 ft from
the screen and 16.8 ft for the rear atmos speakers.

For the ceiling speakers, I do not know whether I should go for Invisa
650 or htr 7000. Also is a combination of these speakers good? I am
hearing some concerns about hotspots using Invisa but are these
effects relevant to the 9.1 ft ceilings. Also, I am enclosing the
diagrams for my room and the advice of dolby on where the ceiling
speakers should go.

I would appreciate any help.

From our support desk:

Dolby's Atmos height channel locations, as they relate to distance front and back of the listening area, are good guidelines. Position left to right will depend on the model you choose, as the HTR 7000s should be mounted further to the left and right than your would place the Invisa 650's. Regarding hotspot issues, 9.1 feet is certainly better than the typical 8 feet or less, but Sandy feels you would need 10-12 foot ceiling height to get a reasonable effect from a down-firing model. Movie theater Atmos speakers are probably 20-30 feet overhead, as a comparison.

Hope this helps.
