In my case, the listening distance is about the same as the mantle width which is 85", though if the L/R speakers are horizontal on the mantle then the drivers are closer together. Note that we were not debating a SuperSat 50/60 setup, we were debating using two SuperSat 3's on the mantle ends with a SuperSat 50 or 60 for the center versus the 3D Arrays.

Mantel is 54" high and my listening distance is around 14'. Ear level is around 44". I am looking for advice on the height of the in wall surrounds- keep in mind the ceiling is 18'. The surrounds will face the kitchen and will be used to fill the space with music along with rear sound duties.

Your idea to build a small wall is not a bad idea BUT i am not crazy and will never present this to my wife.
