I am wanting to upgrade from B&W 603s3 mains because they just aren't capable of filling the room up in which they are now placed. But I also have dual SVS 12 inch sealed subs that I love. I am wondering if the subs with the Triton 2s would be redundant. I am pushing the system (B&W center and surrounds) with a Marantz SR7007. I know I will have to replace the whole set up due to changes in tonality in the speakers so this is pretty important. Would dual subs be pointless?
Thanks

Hi Dssquared,
I just cannot help thinking of Angelina Jolie when I read your post, your question.
If a woman had a coupla nice pointy things and she did not need them any more for breast feeding, so she cut them off, would that be pointless?
Some of these things just answer themselves.

Unless you think you can have too much of a good thing, bass that is.
Hope this helps, and I don't mean any disrespect to any woman mentioned herein.
God Bless,
Wayne

Any consideration for the new Triton 1's due out in June? These would "fill the room." My wife has decided to keep her "nice pointy things."FWIW
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

So this is clearly subjective and not black and white. Second of all, Wayne, Anthem, et al have far more experience on this front. That said, when I was interested in doing an a/b comparison of our system (Triton Ones, SCXL, two pairs of mdx) with and without a FF5 sub, my dealer/installer and the GE regional rep basically discouraged me saying the Triton Ones would be more than enough though they're always happy to take my $. Given that our budget for our system is already strained, I left it at that and figured we could always add one if I felt we were lacking.

I know that your talking about the Triton Twos, but they certainly pack plenty of punch.

Let us know what you decide and how you like it...

It's funny that you mention a woman regarding all this. My wife is the one wanting 'More bass! More!'. The logical step would be something like B&W CM9 speakers (they are within my $3K budget) but who said this hobby is logical? More bass you say? Well here ya go. I'll give the Triton 2s a listen. How can these not be ridiculous with twin subs beside them!?
