The power cables provided with the Triton2s are a lot longer than I need them to be. My power source comes through the floor right by the speaker, so I don't need more than a one or two foot cable. With the current cable I end up with lots of excess wire on the floor which looks very sloppy.

Looking at the cable provided, it terminates in a two-slot shroud, while every replacement cable I can find ends in three slots. Can I safely use a three slot power cable ? If not, what specs can I search for to find a cable that will match?

Short answer...yes you can safely use a three slot powercord with a two-slot shroud. The Shunyata Venom 3 power cords work very well with the T2's.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Welcome to the forum! T2s are some great sounding speakers. When I got my Tritons, I ran dedicated 20 amp circuits just behind their planned location. My cords are also too long and I will eventually go with 3-foot cables to clean things up a bit but still offer me some placement flexibility.

A lot of dealers will let you try cables out prior to purchase. I definitely recommend a risk free audition if you are looking to improve sound. If cosmetics is your only concern, you have a lot of options but a good PC power supply cable should be relatively low cost. I've seen pros and cons to buying shielded cables.

We'd love to hear more about your setup and, of course, pictures are always welcome. Let us know how the hunt goes for the power cables. Besides the Venoms, Pangea, AudioQuest, and PS Audio make some nice looking power cables. A few of our members are also reporting success with Anti-Cables on their electronics.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Thanks to all for the guidance. I think that I am gong to start by trying the Pangea's as I can find them in a 0.6 meter size.

I am not sure at this point that I would be able to detect the difference a higher priced cable would provide. I am still fine tuning placement of the T2s. Until I resolve that, I don't see the advantage in going too far up the price scale. I have been doing some construction in my listening area, and the space hasn't been finalized till recently.

When I do, I will probably look at the power cable for my amp, which is a Rotel 1552 MK II and for the pre-amp, also Rotel. I think my best opportunity for immediate improvement in the near future will be to work out the placement issue. Right now I am working out how far into the listening space I need to bring the T2s.

Alanpp,

Sounds like some great gear! I'm sure it sounds fantastic already. As far as placement, sandy's set up tips are a great place to start. I have found what some professional viewers have in their time with the Tritonpowered towers: they like a bit of room to breathe. I have the front of my T1s 36" from the back and side walls and toed in directly at the PLP. Obviously, there are many variables and you will have to play around a bit. I'd recommend placing your towers on furniture sliders and adjusting as necessary. Once you find the sweet spot, you can set the spikes and purchase the proper length power cables. Just my .02. Good luck and please post some updates. Enjoy the journey!

Cheers,

T Cobe
